On October 17, professional ski mountaineers @christinalusti and @geepierrel completed a breathtaking first descent of Aoraki (Mount Cook) in New Zealand, calling it the most engaging experience of their careers. The duo tackled the treacherous Hunter’s Moon line, navigating dangerous icy conditions and intricate terrain beneath the stunning backdrop of the full moon and aurora australis. Their partnership, forged during a North Face team trip, proved essential as they pushed each other beyond their limits, embracing the challenges posed by New Zealand’s notoriously fickle weather and snowpack. After climbing the east face of Aoraki’s central peak at 3,717m (New Zealand’s tallest), they achieved an extraordinary feat: the first descent of Aoraki’s “Hunter’s Moon” on a 1,000m face. Prior to this accomplishment this dream team established the line “Mullet Direct” on Mount Dixon in memory of Mike Gardner, as well as “Uncle Pete” on the hanging glacier of Mount Vancouver. 📷: @mathurinvth.pics #NeverStopExploring #WePlayDifferent 29 Oct 2024 On June 24, I lost my partner, Guillaume “Gee” Pierrel, while climbing Kapura Peak in the Karakoram mountains of Pakistan 💫 Guillaume, After our second date, it became clear that “Plan Gee” was the only fitting name for you. You were late, the original plan was overly ambitious, and we deviated so far into a magical adventure where the mountains felt like our own. It was perfectly imperfect. And from the very beginning, I knew I would follow you anywhere. You opened your life to me, and I will forever be grateful for the richness of loving each other. You were my love, my mountain partner, my home, and the person with whom I imagined my future. Life with you moved in fast-forward, we wasted no time. We united our wildest dreams and imagined the many ways we could create, grow, and evolve together. It was a serendipitous adventure. A big life, lived at full capacity. Your mastery and dance with the mountains were a joy to witness, and moving beside you was one of the greatest privileges of my life. My heart breaks knowing how much more you had to offer this world and the journey you desired. You didn’t avoid anything for the sake of living safety. I know that every moment of your life was fully lived. Forever your Kiddo. Forever my Plan Gee. Allez. 24 Sep 2026 Crazy Skilled Matrix with @geepierrel 🤍 One year ago. We loved exploring, story telling, and sharing our experiences with others. Heading to @banffmountainfestival without Gee this year and can’t not share this. 03 Nov 2026 New Zealand was our first time skiing together, and I remember thinking, what the heck? We can go anywhere ! This line embodies boldness, precision, and a deep love for technical exploratory skiing. Trusting each other was instinctive. A collective desire to push each other beyond our own perceived limits. Together, our journey felt bold and limitless. Hunter’s Moon is a short film @geepierrel and I had been working on together. It premiered in June while we were away in Pakistan, and its meaning has since evolved. . . but, I’m grateful to share a glimpse of his wild spirit, the fun we had exploring these incredible places, and the beginning of our story together. It’s short, it’s light, and it captures a little piece of our adventure, carving our names in the rich mountaineering history of Aoraki / Mount Cook. Thank you Gee, for being 110% in on any and all crazy ideas. @mathurinvth.pics , for capturing this madness. @picture.north , for bringing this film to life. @pvscompany , back filling the story with interviews. @samsmoothy @outdoorswithrowntree @ross.hewitt and Beau, for the finest fondue party Plateau Hut has ever seen. 30 Oct 2026 40 years of @thenorthface base camp duffel @thenorthface_snow @thenorthface_climb Photo @_drew_smith_ 07 Apr 2026 Sub-zero temperatures, high winds, and miles to go. That’s how @christinalusti started her morning on Mount Deltaform, North Glacier. And she wouldn’t have it any other way. On January 18, 2026, the haute vitesse crow @christinalusti and her companions, Brette Harrington and Gee Pierrel have realized the first ever descent of Mount Deltaform’s North Glacier, in Canada. « We departed the Moraine Lake trailhead at 7am on Jan 17th, with the thermometer reading -18°C, hauling our gear in toboggans for 17 kilometers to the base of Mount Deltaform. High winds sent spin drift down the cliffs as we approached, and we set up our tents deep in the Valley of Ten. Calm air arrived overnight, and the next morning we climbed Deltaform via exposed ramps leading to a couloir. Near the top, where it pinched against rock bands, we crossed a sharp fin of snow, built an anchor, and rappelled into the hanging glacier to climb the steep upper section. From the summit, we skied to the edge of the hanging serac, making four rappels to reach the lower route, which we skied back to camp. | Last week, three of our athletes completed the FIRST descent of Mount Deltaform in Canada. In freezing conditions and with full commitment, Chri, Brette, and Guillaume carved their way above two hanging glaciers, sealing this remarkable first descent on the flanks of North Glacier Mountain. 📸 @geepierrel #FirstDescent #MountainAdventure #GlacierLines #ExtremeSports #CanadaMountains 28 Jan 2026 A remote peak. A hanging glacier. Four rappels into the void. @christinalusti, @bretteharrington, and @geepierrel's latest ski descent pushed the limits of what’s even imaginable on skis, combining technical mountaineering, extreme exposure, and a fully human-powered mission deep in Canada’s Valley of Ten Peaks. From falling ice to blind drop-ins, this was not just another big-mountain line. It was a calculated leap into the unknown. Read the full story to see how they pulled it off and why this descent truly packed a punch. 📷️ : @geepierrel #descent #skitour #pushinglimits 27 Jan 2026 A route no longer even mentioned in guidebooks. Ambassador @christinalusti set out for a first descent on Mount Deltaform’s North Glacier earlier this month, with ski partners Brette Harrington (@bretteharrington) and Gee Pierrel (@geepierrel). “Routes like this are rare. The North Glacier has changed so much since its first ascent in 1968 that it’s no longer even mentioned in guidebooks. We went in knowing the hazards, but also knowing the reward: a wild, beautiful line in one of the most iconic valleys in the Rockies.” — Christina Lustenberger Starting out with temps at –18°C and a 17km haul into the Valley of Ten, the crew settled in beneath their line and prepped for the mission. The next morning, they moved through exposed ramps, a tight couloir, and a serac-side rappel to reach the ridge. The reward was a clean drop into a steep line, a few rappels linking the north glacier double seracs and hanging snow, and a smooth ski back to camp. One more frozen night and a long trek out sealed it: a true Canadian sufferfest in all the right ways. #BuiltForTheWild Photo: @geepierrel 26 Jan 2026
