Great teaching takes many forms. 🌍
The Global Teacher Prize has updated its eligibility and judging criteria to recognise the many ways educators create meaningful impact for children and young people.
The mission remains the same: celebrating exceptional educators who improve learning, inspire others, and help shape the future of education.
From classrooms and communities to digital platforms and non-formal learning settings, educators everywhere are invited to explore the updated criteria and apply for the 2027 Global Teacher Prize.
@gems_education @varkeyfdn #GlobalTeacherPrize #TeachersMatter
The Prize continues to celebrate classroom teachers, while expanding eligibility to educators working across a wider range of learning settings.
Teaching can happen in many different settings. The updated criteria recognise educators creating meaningful learning experiences in classrooms, communities, online and beyond.
You don’t need global reach to make a meaningful difference. Exceptional teaching can create lasting impact in a classroom, a community, a country or around the world.
There’s no single way to be an exceptional educator. What matters is the impact of your approach, the challenges you’re addressing and the difference you’re making.

Every child is carrying something we may not always see.
This World Mental Health Day, Global Teacher Prize Ambassador Jasmyn Wright reminds us of the importance of creating safe spaces where students feel heard, supported and able to talk about what they’re going through.
Because every child deserves to know they don’t have to carry their weight alone. Their mental health matters. They matter.
