I’d probably rate these 2 exercises as the most effective leg builders in my training…
👉 Bulgarian Split Squats
👉 Romanian Deadlifts
What would you say is your top 2 ?? 🤔

You can be eating healthy, training consistently and doing everything right… yet still struggle with a swollen, uncomfortable stomach 😔
And something I wish more women understood is that a distended tummy doesn’t automatically mean you’ve gained body fat, that your nutrition is poor… or that all your hard work has gone out the window!
There are so many things happening inside our bodies that can influence how we look and feel from one day to the next. LITERALLY!
Hormonal fluctuations, digestion, stress, food sensitivities and underlying health conditions can all play a role.
And sometimes, those things are completely outside our control.
For me personally, living with adenomyosis and endometriosis means abdominal swelling and discomfort can be part of my reality, even when I’m doing everything I can to look after myself.
As you can see in the photo above…
I have happy tummy days, and then I have painful, bad tummy days.
But one thing I’ve learned is that while I can’t always control what my body does .. I CAN control how I choose to support it.
And for me, nutrition and training are a big part of that.
I’ve become much more mindful of how I train, how I recover and what foods I eat.
I’m also much more intentional about supporting my digestion and gut health.
Not because I believe food can cure every underlying issue, but because making the right adjustments can sometimes help alleviate symptoms and make everyday life a little more comfortable.
Because nutrition isn’t just about losing body fat or building muscle. It’s also about how you FEEL.
I’ve tried many diets in my time, and that’s one of the reasons I teamed up with my partner to build our nutrition coaching app Meal Engine.
I don’t believe there’s a one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to nutrition.
And that’s something we’ve taken into consideration when developing our approach to nutrition coaching.
Because what works for one person might not work for another.
We all have different goals, lifestyles, preferences and nutritional needs.
So, we created an adaptive coaching app that can create a custom plan specifically for YOU 🫶

Here’s a few rules I try and follow for all of my back workouts 👇
1️⃣ Use a balanced ratio of Horizontal Pulling Movements (Rows) + Vertical Pulling Movements (Pulldowns)
2️⃣ Perform some exercises with a Neutral (Hammer) Grip + others with a Pronated (Overhand) Grip
3️⃣ Incorporate both Unilateral (Single-Arm) Movements + Bilateral (Dual-Arm) Movements
4️⃣ Focus on FEELING the muscle / area you’re trying to target instead of just moving the weight (hint: use higher reps, pyramids, and single arm movements for this)
5️⃣ PLAN + TRACK your workouts each week to ensure they progressively build on each other (hint: use an app that does both like @liftit.app)
To give you an example of a singular workout that puts all this together .. see below 💪
1. Dumbbell Single Arm Row 12,10,8,6
2. Barbell Bent Over Row 4x6
3. Single Arm Pulldown 15,12,10,8
4. Wide Grip Lat Pulldown 4x8
5A. Cable Single Arm Straight Arm Pulldown 4x15
5B. Kneeling Cable Single Arm Vertical Traction 4xMAX

2013 vs 2026 .. 13 years of lifting and trying to build muscle 💪
One thing I’ve always found easy is growing my quads .. but my glutes? Not so much! 😅
For years .. I mainly focused on strength training and lifting as much weight as possible .. and while I built plenty of muscle doing that .. I found that my quads started overpowering my glutes (leaving me feeling out of proportion).
You’ve probably noticed I train glutes a LOT more in my videos these days compared to all the heavy lifting I used to do a few years ago…
Which is simply because my goals changed.
As I’ve gotten older .. I’ve also had to adapt my approach to training and recovery…
These are 5 things I’ve changed over the years 👇
1️⃣ Smarter training splits
Prioritising glutes with more targeted training and recovery.
2️⃣ Less focus on lifting heavy
More emphasis on hypertrophy, exercise execution and progressive overload.
3️⃣ Glute-focused exercises
Incorporating more hip thrusts, RDLs, abductions and unilateral movements.
4️⃣ Nutrition
Prioritising protein and eating enough to support muscle growth.
5️⃣ Recovery
Taking sleep and rest more seriously. More isn’t always better!
But the biggest lesson of all?
Training harder isn’t always the answer.
Sometimes you need to change HOW you train to get the results you want 💯
This is exactly why I created my training app @liftit.app 📲 I wanted to help others train smarter and follow structured programs that properly align with their goals.
And It’s also why we just launched @mealengine (our new nutrition app!) 🍽️ Because what you do outside the gym is just as important as what you do inside it. Meal Engine helps you take a smarter, more personalised approach to nutrition, so you can properly fuel your training and give yourself the best opportunity to achieve the results you’re working so hard for 🙌

Deadlifts are officially back in my training program! 🥹💪🏼
After taking a little break from them, it feels so good to be pulling some heavy weights again!
