I’m 50 and I consider this my greatest achievement: . I express my many dimensions fully in my work and life. I feel true to myself AND I allow myself to evolve and change based on what feels true to me. . It took me a long time to get here. . I went from a refugee to the youngest venture capitalist at my firm, to working at famous companies and starting my own. . But none of that felt amazing because I was UNDER-EXPRESSED. . I wasn’t allowing myself to express my many dimensions. I kept myself constricted to a narrow lane of what I thought I should be. . Now I don’t have a lane. I’m a speaker who paints on stage. I advise accomplished people to build their next chapter and make iconic art for them. I write and create and build what feels true, and hold feeling true to myself as my highest value. . It’s the greatest gift I’ve given myself. And it’s the gift I love seeing my clients give themselves as they create their next. . When I told my keynote audience in Zurich that Avi and I were celebrating our 25th anniversary, they broke out into applause. . And a lot of women told me afterwards that it’s rare to see partnerships that last this long these days. . I don’t know the official stats, but I do know that our marriage and partnership is our anchor. It’s taken us a lot of growing and evolving to truly find each other in our relationship. But at 25 years old (well, 29 actually) it’s pretty kick-ass 😍 . People ask me what’s our secret. We don’t have one. But we do really like each other, we love to hang out together, we laugh a lot, and we are each other’s biggest cheerleaders. . Thank you Switzerland for helping us celebrate. There’s a point in creating anything new when you have to make a mark before you know what it will become. At my She’s Mercedes keynote in Switzerland, I began a painting on stage and invited the women in the audience to add their own marks. Each person changed what the next person could create. I’m glowing after an absolutely incredible event last night at the She’s Mercedes event in Zurich!✨🎤 We talked about embracing change as a catalyst to grow and expand and the women in the audience dared themselves to take action to create their next… … without waiting for confidence or clarity. During my keynote, I practiced what I teach and began a drawing on stage, without a plan, and in front of everyone watching. It was scary and exacting, which is the inner compass I encouraged the audience to follow. I then invited everyone to add their own marks to the painting and together we created something incredible! I am so inspired by their willingness to be open, to share, to question and reframe beliefs that hold them back, and most importantly, to dare to become artists of their lives and create their next chapters in a way that feels true to them. I cried listening to Susannah introduce me to her company… . Susannah and I first years ago when she joined my Elevating Women’s Leaders program. . As we worked together, she made a big decision to start a new chapter by taking a new role at a different organization, CDP Community. . Earlier this year, Susannah joined my Create Your Next Mentorship program. And this time, her next chapter was an even bigger dare: . For years, Susannah was a secret artist. She loved making beautiful watercolor paintings, but told almost no one about it. . During the mentorship, she began to share her art. She told her colleagues. She created an Instagram account (@fromsusannah ) and within weeks she sold her first two paintings. By the end of the mentorship she sold 5, had a website, collectors, and something most precious: . She embraced herself as an artist. . As she shared when she introduced me before my talk, it made her feel so alive and that aliveness impacted every part of her life and work. . Just last week Susannah got a big promotion. Because when you bring more of yourself into your life, every aspect of it shines brighter. . I don’t normally cry in public, but as I listened to Susannah introduce me to her company and talk about how working with me has impacted her life, I couldn’t help it. . It’s been the greatest honor watching her grow into more of who she is and shared her gifts with the world. Your next doesn’t begin with certainty. . It begins with the Tug, the visceral feeling that you’re ready to create and build something new, even if you’re not sure what it is yet or how you will do it. . Yesterday I had the honor of delivering a keynote and workshop to a group of amazing leaders who are taking part in the Inner MBA program created by Sounds True @soundstrue . . Sounds True had been my publishing home for all of my books and programs and this year, I am delighted to be part of the core facility for the Inner MBA. . I am so grateful to the leaders in the room for their willingness to envision new possibilities for their next era, for how they want to express themselves and their many dimensions and for the courage to take action towards them without knowing how it will all turn out. . We are all artists of our lives. We don’t find our next, we create it. . You don’t need to define what your next will be. You don’t need to decide exactly what shape it will take. . You get to shape it as you go. . Resist the advice to “get clear on your goals”. Goals work when you’re clear on what you’re doing. But when you are in the early stages of creating your next chapter, goals only constrain you. . Take small steps. Learn from each one. Evolve. Avi and I in a hotel hallway, just before I went on stage to give a keynote.💛 I’ve built companies, written books, speak all over the world, work with incredible leaders. I’m proud of all of it. But the greatest thing Avi and I have created is our partnership over 25 years of marriage. We met in college (go @wesleyan_u @wes_alumni ) and got married young. At our wedding, my best friend read out the list I’d made of my ideal husband, crumpled it up, and said, “Thank goodness Avi is none of these!” She was right. :) It’s taken us years to truly get to know each other, to grow into who we are individually, and to keep creating our relationship as we’ve evolved personally. And we’re still doing it! Now we’re creating more of our work together, too, and I love this new chapter for us. 29 years together, 25 years married, and I can’t imagine a better partner to keep creating this life with. 💛 @avispiv 22 Oct 2026
