You can be eating healthy, training consistently and doing everything right… yet still struggle with a swollen, uncomfortable stomach 😔
And something I wish more women understood is that a distended tummy doesn’t automatically mean you’ve gained body fat, that your nutrition is poor… or that all your hard work has gone out the window!
There are so many things happening inside our bodies that can influence how we look and feel from one day to the next. LITERALLY!
Hormonal fluctuations, digestion, stress, food sensitivities and underlying health conditions can all play a role.
And sometimes, those things are completely outside our control.
For me personally, living with adenomyosis and endometriosis means abdominal swelling and discomfort can be part of my reality, even when I’m doing everything I can to look after myself.
As you can see in the photo above…
I have happy tummy days, and then I have painful, bad tummy days.
But one thing I’ve learned is that while I can’t always control what my body does .. I CAN control how I choose to support it.
And for me, nutrition and training are a big part of that.
I’ve become much more mindful of how I train, how I recover and what foods I eat.
I’m also much more intentional about supporting my digestion and gut health.
Not because I believe food can cure every underlying issue, but because making the right adjustments can sometimes help alleviate symptoms and make everyday life a little more comfortable.
Because nutrition isn’t just about losing body fat or building muscle. It’s also about how you FEEL.
I’ve tried many diets in my time, and that’s one of the reasons I teamed up with my partner to build our nutrition coaching app Meal Engine.
I don’t believe there’s a one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to nutrition.
And that’s something we’ve taken into consideration when developing our approach to nutrition coaching.
Because what works for one person might not work for another.
We all have different goals, lifestyles, preferences and nutritional needs.
So, we created an adaptive coaching app that can create a custom plan specifically for YOU 🫶

Building muscle matters to me .. but so does feeling good in the body I’m building 🤍
For a long time, I struggled with bloating, digestive issues and feeling like my stomach could change dramatically from one day to the next.
And when you’re working hard in the gym, that can be frustrating.
You want to eat enough to grow.
You want to fuel your training.
But you also want to feel comfortable after a meal.
One of the biggest things I’ve learned is that a food being “healthy” doesn’t automatically mean it agrees with your body.
The foods shown in this post are the foods that agree with me right now - but your choices might look different.
So, while I hope this gives you a bit of an insight into what I’m doing…
It’s important to discover what works for YOU .. and then build a realistic and sustainable plan around those foods.
Because knowing which foods to choose is one thing…
But then actually knowing how much to eat, how to turn them into meals, and whether you’re eating enough for your goals is where it can get overwhelming!
That’s a huge part of why we created Meal Engine.
You choose the foods you enjoy, tell it about your goals and dietary needs, and it builds your personalised meal plan - with meals and portions mapped out so you know what to eat each day.
Less time trying to piece it all together.
More confidence in how you’re fuelling your body.
If you’ve been training hard but still guessing with your food…

No-Bake Cookie Dough Peanut Butter Balls 🍪🥜
This is a simple one to keep in the fridge for when you feel like something sweet 🤤
Only four ingredients and no baking required!
INGREDIENTS
▪️ 1½ cups rolled oats — I used Uncle Tobys Traditional
▪️ 1 cup peanut butter — I used Bega Simply Nuts Smooth
▪️ ¼ cup Queen Sugar Free Maple Flavoured Syrup
▪️ 50–60g Adonis Cookie Dough protein powder
METHOD
1️⃣ Mix the peanut butter and syrup together, then stir in the oats, protein powder and chocolate.
2️⃣ Mix until everything comes together. If it’s too dry to roll, add a small splash of water at a time.
3️⃣ Roll into balls and refrigerate for around 30 minutes to firm up.
Then, to log one, I just took a photo in Meal Engine 📸
It estimated the calories and macros for me, without having to search for each ingredient individually 👌
The photo estimate for the ball shown?
130 calories • 4g protein • 16g carbs • 6g fat
Not an exact measurement, but a convenient way to keep track when you’re not weighing everything out 🙌
Save this recipe for later and try photo logging in the Meal Engine app 📲

It’s hard to believe how fast and accurate calorie tracking has become with AI 🤯

You can follow a diet perfectly and still feel like it’s failing you.
@stephaniesanzo spent years exploring different approaches to food - plus tens of thousands of dollars on expert guidance.
Her experience was what helped shape Meal Engine.

Back day! Plus a little look at the breakfast that fuels it 👉
Yes… those are crushed rice cakes 👀
I used to have oats for breakfast .. but I found they were upsetting my gut 😩
So I found an alternative and gave rice cakes a try instead!
I crush them up and mix them with protein powder, as well as some blueberries and almond butter 🥣
It tastes delicious, sits so much better in my stomach, and has become my favourite breakfast and pre-workout meal 👌
I plug all my food into the @mealengine app which tracks my calories and macros 📲
It also has an AI Coach that can help you plan your meals and actually find foods that agree with you 🫶

The body you see in the first photo isn’t a body that needed to be “fixed” .. but it was a body that needed to be listened to 🤍
For a long time, I struggled with bloating, digestive issues and feeling like my stomach could change dramatically from one day to the next!
And if you’ve ever experienced this - you know how frustrating it can be.
You can be training hard.
You can be eating “healthy.”
You can be doing everything you think you’re supposed to be doing…
…and still feel uncomfortable, bloated and inflamed.
For me, addressing my gut health made a huge difference.
And one of the biggest things I’ve learned is that gut health isn’t just about one food or following some restrictive “gut-healing” diet.
It can be influenced by so many things:
- What foods your body tolerates well
- Your overall diet and fibre intake
- How consistently you’re eating
- Stress and cortisol
- Poor or insufficient sleep
- Alcohol and highly processed foods
- Changes in hormones
- And, for some people, underlying digestive issues that need individual attention
The answer isn’t to eat less and punish yourself until your stomach is flat.
It’s to understand your body and learn how to eat in a way that supports it.
That’s actually a huge part of why we created Meal Engine.
Meal Engine isn’t just another calorie tracker that tells you what you shouldn’t eat.
It’s designed to help you understand your nutrition, track what you’re eating, and give you guidance so you can make better decisions without having to figure everything out yourself.
Because I know how overwhelming it can feel when you’re thinking:
“What am I supposed to eat?”
“Why does this food make me feel terrible?”
“Am I eating enough?”
“Why am I bloated again?”
I’ve been there.
Meal Engine is the tool I wish I had when I was trying to work all of this out myself.
So, if you’re constantly fighting your body, maybe it’s time to stop fighting it and start listening to it.
Let the Engine help 👉 @mealengine

If you’re skeptical about logging your food with AI photo analysis… you should be ⚠️
Because the truth is - nothing will ever be as accurate as weighing your food and logging it manually!
BUT…
Sometimes convenience and speed beat perfect accuracy - especially when it comes to actually staying consistent 💯
Because slightly imperfect tracking every day is FAR more impactful than perfectly accurate tracking that you only do sometimes…
The key is CONSISTENCY 🔑
If tracking your food doesn’t fit into your everyday life, then chances are you won’t keep doing it 🤷♀️
But just how inaccurate is AI photo logging?
Well… that depends on the app. 👀
So we put Meal Engine to the test…
We photographed a meal, let Meal Engine estimate the portions, then compared those estimates against the actual weighed amounts.
Here’s the results from our test…
🍗 Chicken Schnitzel
AI: 150g → Actual: 140g
👉 Difference: 26 calories
🥔 Potato Wedges
AI: 150g → Actual: 152g
👉 Difference: ~2 calories
🌶️ Spicy Mayo
AI: 20g → Actual: 20g
👉 Difference: 0 calories
AI estimate: 640 calories
Actual: 616 calories
That’s a difference of just 24 calories.
Not perfect.
But for something that takes a photo and a few seconds?
Not bad. Not bad at all. 👀
