Out in the nighttime in the Everglades, the stars can be seen more clearly than in the city, even though they look small in this picture, but at least you can see them. And this tree was lit up with a red light because it’s so dark that you can run into things and the tree has the most elegant curve. Everglades is one of the most magical things about Florida. Every year in the Everglades, there is a time just once a year where you can drive out to the Everglades and the people who take care of the Everglades will take you in the middle of the night to see the stars and make sure you get back safe and sound. @evergladesnps @florida #RiverOfGrass @viifoundation 428 likes · 22 comments · 06 Mar 2026 “Every time we click the shutter, it’s like a new day, a new chance to make a clean start, to be original. I can’t overstate how much I owe to him for the photographic life I’ve been able to rebuild after my attack. I have not been to Visa Pour l’Image for nine years now, though for a while, I used to attend every year. I’ll post more about my personal debt to Jean-François and Visa later.

For today though, I’m going to share some photos I took after the end of the final evening projection of the 2008 Visa Pour l’Image as always, in the Campo Santo. As a surprise, photographers @nina_berman and @maggiesteber had gathered prints from photographers he’d exhibited at the festival over the years and presented them to him in a big print box onstage that night, including one from me, since he’d so graciously given me my first exhibition of my very early “No Agua, No Vida” work back in 2003. It was such a wonderful tribute for Nina and Maggie to organize and I don’t think I ever saw Jean-François so happy as he was that night. He felt the love. I’ve been thinking all day of Delphine Lelu, @sylviegrumbach and the whole team. #visapourlimage #jeanfrancoisleroy 1,091 likes · 40 comments · 31 Aug 2026 This weekend is Mother’s Day in the United States and maybe even elsewhere. My mother has gone to heaven, but she is always with me and I love her and say her name every single day. What would we do without mothers and we wouldn’t even be born because it is the mothers who grow us in their bellies and give us life. So to everybody who has a mother whether she’s still with us or not, and to all the new mothers and to all the mothers that have brought many children into the world. I wish you a very happy beautiful Mother’s Day!💐💐💐💐💐💐🥰 140 likes · 6 comments · 09 May 2026 I have a new website entitled maggiesteberphoto.com. I’m very excited and I hope you will be as well. I hope you will take a look because it shows 50 years of my work in my photographic life. As well, besides looking at my work, you can sign up for Portfolio review for one hour. I will be available for 4 days each month. I have been a director of photography, a photo editor, a teacher for workshops all over the world and I have mentored hundreds of photographers to move them forward in this business. I have won many awards, grants, and have had many exhibitions throughout the world. I can help you improve your work, help you write powerful proposals for grants and how to approach photo editors. Have a look! I have to thank wonderful the timer and filmmaker @jaymekayegershen who worked hard putting this together and designing it. Many thanks, Jayme!!! The program was an inspirational journey of inquiry, depth, and wildness. Participants include photographers from Laayoune, Kalaa Des Sraghna, Assa Zag, Casablanca, Temara, Sale , and Hong Kong . They took part in discussions, portfolio reviews, shooting assignments, and explored deeply the concept of mystery. The experience culminated in an exhibition. Our deep gratitute goes to Maggie for her unwavered support, and to the wonderful participants for their enthusiasm and commitment. The masterclass is dedicated to our late friend distinguished photographer Sara Terry who passed away recently.
