The future home of AC Milan and FC Internazionale Milano has been unveiled, bringing the spirit of San Siro into a new era. 🏟️
Designed by Foster + Partners and @manicaarchitecture, it is a bold architectural vision that sets a new standard for the live fan experience. The project represents a long-term investment in the future of two of world football's most historic clubs, a new home for generations of supporters, and a destination designed to contribute to the cultural, economic, and urban development of the city.
The new 71, 500-seat stadium is inspired by Milano's architectural heritage and design culture. At its heart is a striking structural form with a powerful rhythm that recalls both the legacy of Italian engineering and the intricate craftsmanship of the Duomo di Milano.

Value Beyond Building: Bund Finance Center.
The Bund Finance Center is a major mixed-use development close to the Shanghai waterfront, designed jointly by Foster + Partners and Heatherwick Studio.
The masterplan is highly permeable for pedestrians, with the design conceived as a point of connection between the old town and the new financial district. At the heart of the development is a landscaped plaza brought to life through a programme of public exhibitions, weekend markets, live music performances and outdoor dining.
The carefully designer spaces at Bund Finance Centre create an inviting urban destination, bringing together work, leisure and community in a setting designed to foster connection and wellbeing.

Exploring the Mulberry Grove The Forestias Condominiums in Bangkok. 🍃
Located at the heart of the practice’s sustainable masterplan, The Forestias condominiums are the latest section of the residential-led development to complete.
The six mid-rise buildings offer the closest connection to the masterplan’s central forest, with new homes overlooking lush greenery and providing residents with direct access to nature on their doorstep. Between seven and eight storeys in height, the buildings have been designed in accordance with the principles of The Forestias masterplan: supporting intergenerational and communal living while creating breathable, climatically responsive architecture informed by the local vernacular.

Spotlight Soft Cells.
Over two decades after Soft Cells was first developed, this edition looks back at how a bespoke architectural solution evolved into a system that continues to adapt to different spaces, scales and uses.
Developed by Foster + Partners Industrial Design in collaboration with @kvadrattextiles Soft Cells is a system of tensioned fabric acoustic panels designed to fit seamlessly into any space. Its origins lie in the practice’s 30 St Mary Axe project – London’s first ecological tall building – where expansive areas of glass and stone frame 360-degree views across London but also create a highly reflective acoustic environment.

Designs have been revealed for a mixed-use development that will transform a prominent site in Yerevan, Armenia’s capital, into a culturally resonant and vibrant new quarter of the city.
At the heart of the scheme, the World Trade Center Yerevan comprises two distinct towers – an office building alongside a hotel and residential building – that vertically connect and share amenities at three points. A new public plaza extends the nearby Diana Abgar Park, reflecting Yerevan’s history as a garden city. The scheme is further animated by retail and entertainment venues and anchored by a second vibrant public space at the base of the towers.
“We are delighted to present our design for the masterplan in Armenia’s capital. Our new development is in close dialogue with the country’s history and culture. The low-rise buildings seamlessly stitch into the wider urban fabric, while the towers are elevated above ground level, freeing up 50 percent of the site and making an important contribution to the life of the city.” Niall Dempsey, Senior Partner at Foster + Partners.

This month marks twenty years since the completion of Hearst Headquarters in New York. Norman Foster reflects on the design and construction of tower, as well as the legacy of tall buildings in the city:
‘New York is the ultimate city of towers. To do a tower in New York - at that time – was significant. It still is significant now because there is only one Hearst Tower, there is nothing else like it anywhere else, it is unique.’

Two decades of Hearst Headquarters, New York. 🎉
Located on West 57th Street in Manhattan, the tower rises to a height of forty-four-storeys, linked on the outside by a skirt of glazing that encourages an impression of the tower floating weightlessly above the base. At the base of the tower, the main spatial event is a lobby that occupies the entire floor plate of the old building and rises up through six floors. Like a bustling town square, this dramatic space provides access to all parts of the building.
This space incorporates the main elevator lobby, the Hearst staff cafeteria and auditorium, and mezzanine levels for meetings and special functions. Structurally, the tower has a triangulated ‘diagrid’ form – a highly efficient solution that uses 20 per cent less steel than a conventionally framed structure. With the corners cut back between the diagonals, it creates a distinctive facetted silhouette on the Manhattan skyline.

Bilbao Fine Arts Museum completes.
A dramatic new addition named the Agravitas hovers like a bridge, spanning 55 metres over the original buildings, leaving them untouched except for restoration. It creates a new enclosed plaza, the social heart of the museum and a vital part of the freely accessible, ground-level public spaces. For the first time in many decades, the original 1940s entrance fronting the city square is reopened.
“In the great tradition of Bilbao, a city with a rich industrial history and an outstanding ability to reinvent itself, this project is about bridging the past, present, and the future. The flexible new building looks ahead to the future and responds to the ever-changing form of contemporary art, while remaining respectful of the site’s storied history.” Norman Foster, Founder and Executive Chairman, Foster + Partners.
The project showcases the practice’s belief in teamwork and its integrated approach to design that seamlessly blends architecture, engineering, and urbanism. The result is a renewed civic landmark for Bilbao, that is not only of the place but has been almost entirely fabricated as a local product.

To mark World Architecture Day, we are looking at the history of Foster + Partners’ design approach, exploring how our work has evolved over time and how these ideas have shaped different projects.
The practice’s ethos is shaped by an interest in responding to context, places and people, from the environmentally responsive and adaptive design of the Hongkong and Shanghai Bank (1985), to the focus on regeneration, revitalisation and material recycling in the British Museum’s Great Court (2000), to the understanding that health, comfort and emotional wellbeing are fundamental considerations in Maggie's Centre Manchester (2016).

Exploring the journey from sketch to completion of Beijing Capital International Airport. ✏️✈️
Completed as the gateway to the city for the 2008 Olympic Games, the airport was designed to enhance passenger experience, operational efficiency and sustainability. Encompassing 1.3 million m², the terminal combines an iconic dragon-like form with integrated transport connections, intuitive wayfinding and a unifying roof canopy that maximises natural daylight. Incorporating a range of passive environmental design strategies, it was remarkably designed and built in just four years.
In a fast-paced world, airports have become more than just transit hubs, they are symbols of modernity and innovation.
