A breast cancer diagnosis can make even simple conversations feel overwhelming.
Many patients leave appointments only to remember their questions later.
If you've recently been diagnosed, consider bringing a written list with you.
Questions aren't a sign that you're difficult.
Questions are a form of self-advocacy.
And self-advocacy can be one of the most important skills you'll learn throughout treatment.
📌 Save this post for your next appointment.

Tomorrow isn't promised to any of us.
That's why the conversations we postpone, the questions we don't ask, and the signs we ignore matter more than we think.
In this episode, Leslie Ferris Yerger shares how her life changed just two months after being told everything was fine.
A reminder to stay informed, trust yourself, and advocate for your health.

Cancer is often described as a journey.
For some survivors, that word feels empowering.
For others, it doesn't.
Because a journey sounds voluntary.
An adventure.
A path chosen.
Breast cancer is none of those things.
The conversation isn't really about finding the perfect word.
It's about allowing people to describe their experiences in their own way.
Some say journey.
Some say battle.
Some say chapter.
Some simply say:
"My story."
And all of those are valid.
đź’— What language feels right to you?

When treatment ends, the support often fades.
Appointments become less frequent.
Friends assume you're okay.
Family wants life to return to normal.
But many survivors describe a different reality.
Fear of recurrence.
Scan anxiety.
Changes in identity.
Questions about the future.
Survivorship is often celebrated.
Less often discussed.
If you're struggling after treatment, you're not alone.
Healing doesn't always end when treatment does.
đź’— What is something you wish people understood about survivorship?

One journey. 500 miles. One purpose.
After her Stage IV breast cancer diagnosis, Leslie turned her experience into advocacy, helping women understand the importance of knowing their breast density and asking the right questions.
Because awareness isn't just information. It can change lives.

You may never know who you inspire.
The post you shared.
The conversation you had.
The kindness you showed.
The courage you displayed.
Someone is watching and thinking:
"If she can keep going,
maybe I can too."
Your ripple may be bigger than you realize. 🦋
With love,
Diary of a Breastie

Some of the most important things in a breast cancer journey aren't always found in the doctor's office.
Sometimes they're found in the resources, communities, and organizations that help us ask better questions, understand our options, and feel less alone.
For our first Resource Hub, we're highlighting three organizations and brands making a meaningful impact:
đź©· @mydensitymatters
Helping women understand breast density, screening options, and why self-advocacy matters in early detection.
đź©· @densebreastinfo
Trusted, expert-backed education on dense breast tissue, supplemental screening, and breast cancer risk.
đź©· @cakesbody
Supporting body confidence and comfort for women navigating surgery, reconstruction, and treatment-related changes.
Whether you're newly diagnosed, post-treatment, a previvor, caregiver, or simply looking to learn more, we hope these resources help you feel informed, empowered, and supported.
Because knowledge is powerful.
And no one should have to navigate this journey alone.
đź’— Have a resource that's helped you? Share it in the comments so other Breasties can benefit too.

A reminder for today:
You do not have to earn rest.
You don't need to finish every task.
You don't need to explain your exhaustion.
You don't need permission to slow down.
Rest is not a reward.
It is part of healing.
And healing deserves space. đź’•
With love,

Sometimes the scariest words aren’t the diagnosis itself…
it’s hearing “you’re fine” when something is actually wrong.
Just two months after an all-clear mammogram, @leslie.ferris.yerger was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.
Her cancer was hidden by dense breast tissue — something millions of women still don’t fully know about.
This conversation isn’t about fear.
It’s about awareness.
Because information saves lives.
🎀 Check your chart.
🎀 Know your breast density.
🎀 Advocate for yourself.
You deserve answers.
