Stay tuned through our bio!😁 @unescobrasil 05 Nov 2026 🌍 Kako gradovi mogu postati pokretači medijske i informacijske pismenosti? 🎓 Kroz predavanje „MIL Cities for Enlightened Citizens: A Mass Civic Engagement Renewing” istaknuta je važnost gradova i lokalnih zajednica u poticanju kritičkog razmišljanja, odgovornog informiranja i aktivnog građanstva. __________ 🌍 How can cities become driving forces for media and information literacy? This was the central theme of today’s lecture by Dr. Alton Grizzle, UNESCO expert in media and information literacy, held at the University of Dubrovnik. 🎓 Through his lecture, “MIL Cities for Enlightened Citizens: A Mass Civic Engagement Renewing,” Dr. Grizzle highlighted the important role of cities and local communities in fostering critical thinking, responsible information consumption, and active citizenship. 💡 Because media and information literacy is not just an individual skill, but a foundation for an informed and responsible society. The lecture was held as part of UNESCO’s Global Media and Information Literacy Week and the eDUres-MIL project, through which our Faculty of Media and Public Relations contributes to the development of the MIL Cities initiative in Dubrovnik. #MILCityDubrovnik #MILCities #GlobalMILWeek #UNIDU #WeAllPlayAPart 04 Nov 2026 🌍 Dubrovnik domaćin središnjeg globalnog događanja UNESCO-ove inicijative „Gradovi medijske i informacijske pismenosti” Stradun je danas povezao Dubrovnik s katarskim Al Rayyanom 🇶🇦 i gradovima diljem svijeta u okviru Globalnog tjedna medijske i informacijske pismenosti i obilježavanja Svjetskog dana gradova. U razgovoru ☕️ „Heritage Café”, posvećenom povjerenju, pouzdanim informacijama i kulturnoj baštini, sudjelovali su Mihaela Skurić, Jelica Čučević, Mark Thomas, Mato Brautović, Žarko Dragojević i UNESCO-ov stručnjak Alton Grizzle. ____ More than 900 young women and men reached across 115+ towns and villages in South Lebanon! 🇱🇧 Over two years, UNESCO, with funding from UNIFIL, has worked with young people to strengthen their Media and Information Literacy skills, verify information, counter disinformation and hate speech, and promote responsible digital citizenship. Today, this journey continues with the launch of the Youth Media Centre in Tyre and the Digital Citizen Hub platform, creating new opportunities for young people to produce content, share their stories and amplify their voices. From learning to action. From participants to changemakers. 📅 3. studenoga 🕙 od 10 sati 📍 Stradun, Dubrovnik 02 Nov 2026 At @unescomil ‘s Regional Media and Information Literacy Week, creators from across Africa came together to learn how we can build safer, more informed and trustworthy digital spaces. For me, it was an opportunity to connect with fellow creators, share experiences, and gain practical tools for verifying information before passing it on to my audience. I left with a renewed sense of responsibility for the trust people place in us—and a pledge to work with journalists and fact-checkers to better inform my community. Having the opportunity to deliver the closing keynote meant so much to me. I spoke about the privilege of having an audience, the care we owe the people who listen to us, and the mentorship, resources and funding creators need to carry this work forward. At @civicrise.africa , creators have always been our spine, and information integrity our goal. Our work is rooted in bringing governance and public information into language and stories people can understand, see themselves in, and act on. That responsibility begins with getting the information right. My sincere thanks to @unesco @unescomil , @fecomo_kenya and @akuhnairobi for hosting us, investing in our growth, and making room for this exchange. Sharing this speech with you means sharing something I deeply believe: when we invest in creators, we strengthen their ability to serve the communities who trust them. ❤️🌍 #WeAllPlayAPart #GlobalMiLWeek #UNESCO #MediaAndInformationLiteracy #AfricanCreators 02 Nov 2026 What happens when a misleading video goes viral, and who is held accountable for the damage it causes? At UNESCO House in New Delhi, The Forwarded Lie, a play by @antraaltheatre, brought this question to the courtroom through a gripping drama exploring misinformation, artificial intelligence and the role we all play in shaping the digital information landscape. Held as part of UNESCO’s regional commemoration of #GlobalMILWeek 2026, the play challenged audiences to question what they see, verify what they receive and think critically before sharing. Because in the digital age, building a more informed society is something, in which, #WeAllPlayAPart.
