BIG NEWS🆕🌞: This autumn brings some big changes for The Lake Radio. After 12 years as a foundation, The Lake Radio will, from October 1st, become a volunteer-run association dedicated to maintaining and updating the stream of experimental music, sound art and radio art that runs 24/7 at www.thelakeradio.com đŸŽ™ïžâŁïžAt the same time, it’s time to say goodbye to our podcast production and move out of our studio on Griffenfeldsgade. This marks the end of a big chapter, and we want to take the opportunity to celebrate all the programmes that have been created over the years. Over the past years, The Lake has produced a vast number of podcasts featuring artists, musicians, composers, sound artists, writers, thinkers and all kinds of other people with something to say and something to put into your ears. We have broadcasted conversations, sessions, concerts, mixtapes, experiments, series and odd one-off productions. Some meticulously planned, some improvised, some long, some short, and some that perhaps only made sense to the people in the room. What all these broadcasts have had in common is a desire to make space for things that can otherwise be hard to find a place for: small and alternative scenes and initiatives; new ideas and artists who don’t necessarily fit into existing formats or the boxes of the commercial music industry. We are deeply grateful to have had the opportunity to invite so many people into the studio whose voices and work we felt deserved to be heard. đŸ«¶Thank you to everyone who has made programmes, everyone who has taken part, and everyone who has listened. To those who have visited the studio, shared ideas, contributed time or money, or simply lent us their ears. These walls must have listened to a lot of beautiful and odd sounds throughout the years — and so have our ears. Thank you to everyone who visited our little space, participated in gatherings and meetings, and sent us packages with cassette tapes, CDs, postcards, and letters. And a special thanks to the dove who steadfastly returned to its nest in the tree outside our window every season. It reminded us that even though we sometimes took our studio on a field trip (Roskilde Festival, BadesĂžen Festival, Struer Tracks ect.) we always returned to our nest in Griffenfeldsgade. But it also reminds us, that to grow and evolve, sometimes you have to leave the old nest behind đŸȘșđŸȘč Though we are leaving our office space, The Lake Radio is NOT closing. The “wrong” way may be the most interesting way of all. It’s the sound, the energy, the feeling that matters. No one cares about rules or limitations. We want to escape into sound. We want to take a trip to the universe. We celebrate both those who were and those who are. This is an extended episode, and the theme was chosen after losing our third colleague in just a few years.
