🍂🧱 The Bentway’s new PA Day Camp offers a hands-on dive into city-building, public art and design, and placemaking.
Through outdoor exploration, interactive games, and creative activities, participants will investigate the history of the Gardiner Expressway, explore the local environment and the surrounding neighbourhood, and experience how a concrete highway can be transformed into a vibrant public space for our communities.
📍 The Bentway Studio, 55 Fort York Blvd
🗓️ Friday, Nov 20 9am- 4pm
🥪 Care-givers must provide lunch & snacks for participants.
Please note: The Bentway Studio is a peanut/nut-sensitive facility.
📝 All materials will be provided.
📦 A Participant Intake Packet will be sent following online registration.
⏰ Extended Care (4-6pm) is available for an additional booking fee of $10.

This fall, The Bentway joins the Trans Canada Trail!
🗺️At 30,000 kilometres, the Trans Canada Trail is the longest multi-use trail in the world, spanning every province and territory through a continuous network of land and water routes.
🛣️The Bentway’s Western Loop will be an official section of Canada’s national trail network, transforming an overlooked urban area into more welcoming destination and opportunities for community recreation.

⛸️ Kick off a whole season on ice with your first skate and fresh beats under the Gardiner.
Celebrate winter’s return to The Bentway with a spin around our figure-eight Skate Trail. Catch a live DJ set from ISA on opening day, then warm up with hot drinks and bites from local food trucks throughout the weekend. Be among the first to skate through Àdìrẹ on Ice, this year’s Transform the Trail installation by Toronto artist and designer Odudu Umoessien.
On and off the ice, there’s more to explore. The Manulife Winter Wellness Experience invites you to take part in interactive activities, enjoy the season, and connect with neighbours. We’ll share more details closer to opening weekend.

As we close out 2026, The Bentway is grateful to receive operating funding from the Ontario Arts Council (@ontarioartscouncil), with support from the Government of Ontario.
As a registered charity and non-profit, this investment strengthens our year-round work—supporting opportunities for artists and bringing neighbours together through public art and programming under the Gardiner. It helps us connect downtown Toronto with the waterfront and reimagine what our shared spaces can offer, even in the coldest months.
Thank you to the Ontario Arts Council and the Government of Ontario for investing in arts and culture, and to Chris Glover, MPP for Spadina—Fort York, for representing the community we call home.

Through photography, creative storytelling, and design challenges, kids ages 8–14 (grades 3–8) will discover what makes public spaces welcoming, accessible, and fun. At The Bentway’s new PA Day Camp program, young city-builders will collaborate, share ideas, and bring their vision for a future public space to life.

A new chapter for materials from A Lake Story. 💙
Following our 2025 performance of A Lake Story by Melissa McGill, paddles and life jackets were given to the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation @mcfirstnation, while bamboo found a new home with Black Youth Farming Collective @byfc_official.
These materials carry a piece of A Lake Story beyond The Bentway, making new connections through reuse. Swipe for a look at where they’ve landed.
We’re committed to giving materials a second life and ensuring project resources continue to serve communities long after visitors have gone home. More than 80% of materials from last year’s Sun/Shade exhibition were rented, reused, recycled, or donated, while 70% of fabricated materials were sourced and produced in Ontario reducing transportation emissions and supporting local fabricators.

💡 Did you know your walk to the waterfront got brighter this year?
Since May, Gardiner Gateways have lit the bents at Dan Leckie Way and Bathurst Street, helping connect our CityPlace and Fort York neighbourhoods with the waterfront.
The Bentway teamed up with Light Bureau (Norway), CityPlace and Fort York BIA, the Waterfront BIA, and the City of Toronto on this lighting pilot, gathering lessons that could help illuminate more crossings under the Gardiner.
