About 34,000 miles. One shark. Nearly 10 years of data. 🦈 Milo is a 26-foot whale shark first tagged off Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula in 2017. He’s set the record for the longest movement track ever documented for a shark. He's crossed the Gulf of Mexico, passed the northern Caribbean, ranged east of Bermuda, and made it as far north as Massachusetts. And sometimes, he stays put for months. "Milo has revealed just how flexible whale sharks can be," says Dr. Mahmood Shivji, director of NSU's Guy Harvey Research Institute. Tracking Milo has been a team effort involving the Guy Harvey Foundation, the Guy Harvey Research Institute at NSU, Mexican conservation organization Ch'ooj Ajauil AC, and the University of Rhode Island. This accomplishment was recently covered by Forbes. Today, we remember 🕊️🇺🇸 On the 25th anniversary of 9/11, our community came together, from a ceremony at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale to a day of remembrance on the Fort Lauderdale Campus, NSU included a moment of silence, an educational timeline, and a Memorial Stair Climb honoring first responders.
