Walking The Dog(s)! ☠️ Seen a lot of posts by fans showing their recently obtained copies; and now it’s time for you to see mine, ha! So here’s ‘Gravest Gravy’ (mine’s the green fuzz version) by The Cramps on @crampsofficialvengeancerecords. Ordered it in May and thx @waaghalsnl (and distributor @konkurrent.nl) who delighted me with a copy on the official release date, today Friday, August 21st. It got unboxed right in front of me. Too bad, there’s no unboxing vid, haha. Thx @wdwbijl 😄
In 1977 The Cramps headed south to Ardent Studios in Memphis (with Alex Chilton at the controls) and laid down a bunch of songs, five of which surfaced on their ‘Gravest Hits’ EP. Now almost 50 years later the remaining 12 tracks emerge in pristine sound quality as The Cramps’ unreleased 1977 album ‘Gravest Gravy’. Big shout out to Larry Hardy (In The Red Records) alongside Poison Ivy, Henry Rollins & Ian MacKaye (and others); they managed to bring these songs back to life. The Cramps rule and what makes The Cramps (a quartet of NY-city weirdos) so compelling was that they weren’t revivalists revelling in nostalgia or irony. Instead, they ‘walked it like they talked it’ and were one of the few exactly the same offstage as they were on. @thecrampsarchive Fave tracks for now, the early (more uptempo) version of ‘The Natives Are Restless’ and the ‘backing vocals’ version of ‘Rockin Bones’. Hard not to jump around to these tunes!
No matter how many Cramps records you may already own, try to get a copy of ‘Gravest Gravy’! It’s truly mind blowing and totally essential. . . #popsnobrecordcovers #thecramps #gravestgravy #staysick #gravesthits 21 Aug 2026

29 Jul 2026
