Yamamoto Tsunetomo (山本 常朝, 1659–1719) was a samurai of the Saga domain and the author of Hagakure (“Hidden by the Leaves”).
His Bushido rested on loyalty, discipline and the acceptance of death: a warrior ready to die at any moment lives with total purpose and clarity.

Sakamoto Ryōma (坂本 龍馬, 1836–1867) was a samurai of Tosa and a revolutionary of the final years of the shogunate.
Disillusioned with the feudal system, he helped unite the Satsuma and Chōshū domains against the Tokugawa and pushed Japan to modernize.
Assassinated at 31, he remains a symbol of courage, reform and freedom.

The Japanese word Kenzen Ichinyo (剣禅一如) means “the sword and Zen are one.” In Japanese martial philosophy, physical skill and mental discipline were never separate.
A strong body sharpens the mind.
A disciplined mind forges the body.
Strength without discipline is chaos.
Discipline without strength is fragile.
Train one, and you train the other.
The sword and mind are one.

The Japanese phrase “Isshin Furan” (一心不乱) means to devote yourself completely to one thing, without distraction.
One goal. One focus. Everything you have.
When your attention is divided, so is your effort.
Stop looking sideways. Stop chasing everything.
Choose what matters—and give yourself to it completely.
Note:
ISSHIN FURAN → Think: focus. “Nothing else gets your attention.”
ICHINEN → Think: conviction/intention. “Nothing changes your intention.”

Miyamoto Musashi (宮本武蔵) was a legendary samurai, strategist, and rōnin, perhaps the greatest swordsmen of all time.
He is traditionally said to have fought and won more than 60 duels without defeat and founded Niten Ichi-ryū, a school famous for its two-sword method of combat.
Beyond the sword, Musashi pursued mastery through strategy, discipline, and self-reliance, leaving behind The Book of Five Rings and Dokkōdō (The Way of Walking Alone).

The Japanese word “Kokki” (克己) means to overcome yourself—to master your own desires, impulses, and weaknesses.
The greatest opponent is rarely in front of you.
It’s the voice that tells you to quit. The impulse to take the easy way out. The excuse you know you shouldn’t make.
Self-mastery begins when you stop obeying every thought and feeling.
Rule your mind, or it will rule you.
