Happy Birthday to the king of kings. I love this photo, you look like the messiah, which in many ways you are to me. It was taken on your 30th birthday at Wastwater, the deepest lake in England. You were determined to get hold of a dingy and Dave and I couldn’t understand why, we were queuing up for the Big Dipper at Blackpool Pleasure Beach and you found one on your Samsung on free ads in Blackburn, we drove up to this mans house in the middle of the night and picked up a bright yellow Challenger 3, fitting name really, the next day you, me and Dave rowed out into the middle of the black lake in the scorching sun and we understood why. It’s your sense of adventure I miss most. That and your big strong hugs that could only come from a big brother. Lucky to have lots of brothers around me 🌹❤️🕊

In an utterly surreal turn of events, I was recently commissioned by @channel4 to write a poem about modern Britain to accompany 25 new idents by some of the most exciting directors of our time.
If you know my work and my words, you’ll know how much of a gilt-edged opportunity this was for me and I am so grateful to @lynseyatkin & @mikeskrag for lowering a branch so I could climb the tree.
These are words I had began to think were destined to be recycled in my mind until the end of time, I can’t tell you how much of a release it is to let them fly.
To make something so positive out of some things so crushing, has given me a renewed purpose in life. My infinite thanks to @lynseyatkin @mikeskrag for your unbelievable belief and to @holdlauren31 @willcogram for keeping me calm ❤️🌹🕊️

My brother Thomas Edward Holt had an incredibly adventurous soul that inspired everyone around him. Ask his friends that followed in his footsteps to Australia or learnt how to use their hands with his tools. Thomas was a carpenter, a photographer – an artist in the truest sense.
He took his own life on January 10th, 2017, aged 31. There is no easy way to say that. You bury the pain deep in your heart and the words get stuck in your throat when you try to speak, as the world carries on around you.
It will be 10 years next year and more recently the pain has begun to feel like power. As I think about how fortunate I am to be Tom Holt’s brother and how blessed I am to be able to speak in a way that people who have been through similar experiences can understand.
Tom and Ed’s music transports you to a more hopeful and optimistic place – planet Overmono. Out of the window electricity pylons are jumping, waking up the land, 303 fibre optics running through their bloodstream. Possibilities reappear; all is not lost.
Sometimes in life you can’t see a corner to get round, but I promise it’s always there.
To make something so positive out of something so crushing is the greatest gift, and I can’t thank Tom, Ed and @williamaspden enough for bringing this song into existence. Thomas loved to dance so the thought of people dancing to his tune means more than you can imagine. Or maybe you can imagine. This tune is for you.
If only he was here to see it. Maybe he is here to see it? People say that he’s always with you and I do believe that, but sometimes he’s also very far away. May this song remind people of loved ones they have lost and bring them closer to their hearts. If we play it loud enough, do you think they will hear us in heaven?
Up the carpenters and everyone on the tools, you are all artists.
Up the herons.
Up the 303.
Up Tom, Ed and William.
Up Thomas Edward Holt, my knight in shining Prada.
Lead the way as you always have and we will come unto you.
‘Knight In Shining Prada’ with @overmono out 13th July 🕊️
08 Jul 2026
@overmono and John Joseph Holt @johnjosephholt (cult poet and founder of @law_magazine) have created an exclusive video recording of Holt’s poem in ‘Knight in Shining Prada. Filmed at Severn Beach in Bristol, the video is directed and shot by @shaunpeckham.
What started as a voice note by Holt to Tom and Ed grew into ‘Knight in Shining Prada’, the centrepiece of Overmono’s album ‘Pure Devotion’. Holt recorded the voice note walking his dog near his home in The Fens, reflecting on brotherhood and the memory of his late brother, Thomas.
In his own words, John says: “My brother Thomas Edward Holt had an incredibly adventurous soul that inspired everyone around him. He was a carpenter, a photographer – an artist in the truest sense. He took his own life on January 10th, 2017, aged 31. To make something so positive out of something so crushing is the greatest gift. May this song remind people of loved ones they have lost and bring them closer to their hearts. If we play it loud enough, do you think they will hear us in heaven?”

Yesterday was such a blur, so many incredible moments..the album coming out, the pub, meeting so many of you and the show itself. We loved every second and felt this vid of Knight in Shining Prada with our brother @johnjosephholt summed up a day we will never forget.
Huge love to everyone who came by and everyone who’s checked out the album. T&E x

Congratulations Tom & Ed on the release of your brilliant new album Pure Devotion. It is an honour to walk beside you and witness the incredible world you have created.
I only just realised your names make up my brother’s name THOMAS EDWARD and now my mind is eternally blown. Some people say coincidence doesn’t exist. Only fate.
