PURE DEVOTION - OUT NOW
for us, making music has always been about having fun. being in the studio together, having a laugh. a never ending process of exploring new ways of making tunes. forever learning, always trying to get better - v83 was a new pb on one of these tracks…
with this album we wanted to try make something that captured the physical space of our studios. setting up loads of ways of processing, recording, re amping sounds…. ‘the vocal isn’t sitting quite right? let’s track it through an old tannoy speaker in the basement. that synth needs to twang harder? let’s play it through an old train station announcement speaker from the 1930’s.’ we ran tape over magnets, blew up some speakers and finally utilised that dirt cheap overclocked fx unit we snaffled years ago in bromley. we even oven baked a cymbal covered in coffee grounds, crisps and vinegar - thank you @sylvia_massy for that one
and a huge thank you to the incredible artists we collaborated with, @rollojackson, @johnjosephholt, @kindora__, @ruthvenready we couldnt have done this album without you and honoured that you’re part of it
thanks as well to all the artists who we sampled, all the studios we recorded in and all the engineers we learnt from in the process of making this record
endless appreciation to everyone who takes the time to listen, we made it for you
lockup is out now
Big love t&e x

Barrowlands 😍️️️️️️😍️️️️️️ that was UNREAL !!! What an incredible venue, we’d been looking forward to that for yonks. Didnt realise it was Metallica’s favourite venue in the entire world, although that makes total sense now.
Incredible way to end the UK part of the tour, absolutely shattered now.. back next week for the Europe dates. Big love T&E x

Ally Pally ❤️
That flew by, was like a fever dream. We’d been living in rehearsal studios the last few weeks around the touring, surrounded by synths, cables, mixers..completely overhauling how we perform live with this show in mind. We’d been making some gradual changes on this tour but this was the first time we got to fully show what we’d been working towards and it felt amazing
Out to @johnjosephholt who covered every inch of stage, we both had shivers hearing your words shake ally pally.. up the herons.
And extra big thanks to @blawan on before us, there’s no one who does it like you do
And huge love to everyone that came and danced, endlessly appreciated by us T&E

@overmono and John Joseph Holt @johnjosephholt (cult poet and founder of @law_magazine) have created an exclusive video recording of Holt’s poem in ‘Knight in Shining Prada. Filmed at Severn Beach in Bristol, the video is directed and shot by @shaunpeckham.
What started as a voice note by Holt to Tom and Ed grew into ‘Knight in Shining Prada’, the centrepiece of Overmono’s album ‘Pure Devotion’. Holt recorded the voice note walking his dog near his home in The Fens, reflecting on brotherhood and the memory of his late brother, Thomas.
In his own words, John says: “My brother Thomas Edward Holt had an incredibly adventurous soul that inspired everyone around him. He was a carpenter, a photographer – an artist in the truest sense. He took his own life on January 10th, 2017, aged 31. To make something so positive out of something so crushing is the greatest gift. May this song remind people of loved ones they have lost and bring them closer to their hearts. If we play it loud enough, do you think they will hear us in heaven?”

We had so much fun recording this album. Trying a few different techniques, some we’d read about and others we just came up with during some late night session. Always want to keep that sense of exploration in what we do, whole nights you can feel like you’ve done so much and then you realise you baked the wrong thing 🍃
