Importance of product differentiation. 🏀
More AAU programs now include training in their weekly package. So when a parent hears “I offer training,” they think, “So does our AAU team.” It might not be as good, but it’s easier and more convenient, and convenience usually wins.
If training is all you offer, you’re competing on convenience. That’s a fight you’ll lose.
The trainers who stand out sell what comes with the training:
✅ A real development plan
✅ Film breakdown and feedback
✅ Mentorship on and off the court
✅ Recruiting guidance
✅ A community players want to be part of
Don’t be a line item. Be the obvious upgrade.

@dashletics speaking on the importance of taking care of yourself to better serve the athletes!
Trainers, I know it’s hard. Long days, back-to-back sessions, no time for yourself.
But like Dash says, you have to take yourself seriously. 🏀
📵 Phone away on the court
💪 Prioritize your wellness
🥗 Eat to fuel yourself
👀 Be the example for your athletes
Small steps count. You deserve the same care you give your players. ❤️

Basketball TRAINER STRUGGLES 🏀
When the season starts, players get too busy, your cash flow stops.
Trainers, you know the feeling. Practices and games start, sessions dry up, and suddenly December through February feels like a drought. We’ve been there. Here’s the three-step process that’s helped us 👇
1️⃣ **Name the season.** We call it Maintenance Season. Once it has a name, it has a purpose, and it stops feeling like “time off.”
2️⃣ **Educate your families.** We walk players and parents through why in-season training matters: you keep your skills sharp, stay healthy, and finish the season better than you started it.
3️⃣ **Work around their schedule.** They practice right after school and play games at 6 or 7. So we move our sessions later at night for December, January and February.
The result? We keep our athletes all season, and our business stays steady all year.
Follow along for more Trainer Struggles, where we break down the problems every trainer faces and how we fix them. 💪

@j.coophoops breaking down how to make drills your own at our HoopStudy Trainers Workshop!
He says you should ask yourself 2 two questions:
1️⃣ What problem is this drill trying to solve?
2️⃣ How can I adjust the drill to fit the needs of my players?
🏀 Trainers, let’s work! @hoopstudycollective

This is what we love. 🤝
A room full of trainers from all over, coming together for one weekend to share, learn and push each other. No egos, no gatekeeping. Just colleagues growing the game together.
Huge thank you to every trainer who pulled up and poured into that room. You brought the energy, the questions and the willingness to get better, and that’s what made the weekend special. 🙏
That energy is exactly why we built @HoopStudyCollective.
The Collective is a community for basketball trainers who want to get better on the court and in business, and who know we go further together than alone.
What’s coming for members:
🔒 Members-only workshops, so more weekends like this one
🔒 Members-only business mentorship to help you build the business behind your training
This weekend was just the start.
Want in first? Tap the link in bio and join the waitlist. Waitlist members get first access. 🏀
Grow the game. Grow together.

High ticket vs Low Ticket… 👇 @hoopstudycollective
Love it, here’s the marketer version:
Stop launching $29/month subscriptions with 2,000 followers. 🛑
The moment you go low-ticket, you’re in a retention game. Your whole business lives and dies by churn. Lose 10% of your members a month and you’re replacing your entire roster every year just to stay flat. Without a massive audience feeding the top of the funnel, the math breaks fast. 📉
Low-ticket subscriptions get used like a gym membership in February. Athletes pop in, rarely log on, and cancel the second money gets tight. Low engagement means high churn.
Flip it. 🔄
Build a high-touch, in-person offer in the $1,000 to $2,500/month range, rooted in your local community. When you’re seeing athletes face to face every week, you become part of their routine. They rely on you. That’s a sticky product, and sticky products don’t churn.
✅ Lifetime value per athlete goes way up
✅ Fewer players to serve means more focus on results
✅ Healthy cash flow from a small roster
✅ One flagship offer means all your marketing goes into one message, not five random products
Stop spreading yourself across a bunch of cheap offers nobody really uses. Build one premium product your athletes can’t imagine training without.
Small roster. Low churn. Real business. 🏀

Basketball trainers, welcome to @HoopStudyCollective 🏀
Thank you to everyone who tapped in with us at the HoopStudy Trainers Workshop. But this is just the beginning.
I’ve been in this space for 17 years, and there’s never been a real community for basketball trainers to lean on. It’s always just been me and a few close friends and colleagues figuring it out together.
For the first time, we’re changing that.
The HoopStudy Collective is a community built to help trainers grow and scale their businesses, with yearly workshops, real business education, and a room of serious trainers pushing each other forward.
We’ve made a lot of mistakes on this journey. We want to share every one of them, so you don’t have to spend the time, energy and money we did. Scale faster than we did, and make an even bigger impact on this game.
If you’re a trainer looking to go full time, or you’re ready to scale, this is for you.
Doors open December 2026. Looking forward to tapping in with you. Let’s get it. 💪
