As I reflect upon the last 13 years of professional baseball, one of the things that I don’t take enough time to truly appreciate was the velocity journey that I went on to open up the doors that once closed on me. I was 26 years old, had just reached the big leagues and just as quickly as I got up there I got sent down, DFAd a couple of times, and before I knew, it was an independent Baseball. Proceeded to pitch extremely well the second half of that season, earning American Association picture of the month after putting together 13 consecutive starts of 7+ innings. Nobody called. Knowing that changes had to be made, GUD Baseball was formed 🫡 We started a deep dive into what made an athlete gain velocity, and since then we’ve helped over 500 athletes on that same journey with over 200 of them reaching 90+ miles an hour and 150 division one commitments. #baseball #developmentjourney #mlb #pitching #velocity 30 Jul 2026 🚨🚨 from 81 to topping 91.5 miles an hour 😮‍💨🚨🚨 One of the strongest weapons in overall development is an athletes emotional buy in, and tre Serrato’s story is no different - he’s been one of the most consistent guys this summer logging his lifts and tracking his bullpen sessions and the results speak for themselves. From 78-80 topping 81 in his intake pen to sitting 86-89 and absolutely FLYING through the 90mph barrier. Another 90 mph testimonial added to over 200+ guys we’ve helped reach 90+ Are you next? The first move should be closing off the hips and moving forward. The goal is turning the back hip so that sitting the back glute down naturally propels you forward. That's how you initiate drift and momentum the right way, instead of throwing yourself forward and disengaging from the rubber too early. Match the drill to the problem. The goal is simple: give yourself a clearer feel for the part of the delivery you're missing. 1. No back-leg drive? Try the single-leg rebound drill. Load into the back leg, rebound under control, then carry that rhythm into the throw instead of trying to muscle it with your arm. 2. Can't feel the hinge? Try the foam-pad drill. With the back foot on the pad, make small, controlled pulses into the back hip before moving into the throw. Feel the hip accept the load rather than just bending the knee. 3. Weak or collapsing front side? Use the mound throw shown here to work on accepting the landing and rotating over a supported front leg. Don't force the knee to lock. Every athlete is different. Use the drill that fits what you're working on, not all three just because they're here. Save this for your next session. Need help identifying your next step? Picture a Post-it note with an X on it stuck to your back hip. The job is to hide that X from the catcher as long as possible. Once you can't hold that position anymore, the hip should rotate down and forward, not pop up and show the X to the catcher early. The hip is a ball and socket joint built to move freely in its capsule. But if something gets jammed into that socket, it can't rotate the way it's designed to. Over time that grinding feeling just gets worse. When the back leg locks up like this, we call it throwing on stilts. To his credit, he’d always had success on the field but the velocity hadn’t been where he wanted it to be. What he didn’t know is that he had a ceiling in his previous throw - whether it be pure output or medically induced, the stress he was putting on the elbow from the low-flip/rotation-down and pushing-out was going to become problematic. As it pertains to overall output, the sequencing of the arm, usage of the spine, and how that impacted movements down the chain would limit just how hard he could ultimately throw. Jaylen has done nothing but work. It’s a really difficult change to ask a HS guy to make given how passive it is at full-tilt. Over the last 3 months, it’s gotten continuously better and took a substantial step forward when we simply cut down the arm swing as a whole. He’s doing things he hasn’t before. While he’s not full integrated to the slope, he came in shuffling 90. That’s now up to 94. On top of that, we’ve had zero days altered due to soreness or fatigue - another sign this is progressing nicely. Excited to see where he lands as he’s another arm on the rise in the ‘27 class. 29 Oct 2026 Adequate mobility isn’t just nice to have- it’s a requirement for health and optimal performance. Comment “mobility” if you’re interested in improving yours! #baseball #mobiltity #velo 29 Oct 2026 YOUR LATE ARM ISN'T AN ARM PROBLEM When the upper half is late getting into position, it's rarely the arm action's fault. Most of the time it's the lower half stalling for time. When the lower half doesn't have enough time before rotation starts, you get stuck in an inverted W, ball aggressively below the elbow. It hikes up, it bounces, and that's where elbow discomfort and irritation start creeping in. Want us to find out why your arm is late? → gudbaseball.com @gudbaseball · gudbaseball.com #baseball #pitching #pitchers #baseballtraining #velocity #pitchingmechanics #armcare #highschoolbaseball #collegebaseball #playerdevelopment #baseballlife #throwharder #strengthandconditioning #baseballparents #gudbaseball 27 Oct 2026 A name to get familiar with in the 2029 class - @parker_hartmann.7 This summer, was anywhere from 77-82, now sitting 84-86/87 with plenty left more in the tank. The work ethic and consistency is also top tier. This is just the start for Parker, as he’s put on 10 pounds and is starting to learn how to implement the linear portion of the equation. Parker quickly adapted the ability to showcase two fastball profiles and we’re going to work on the CH. With the foundation of the delivery being laid here, he’s set up to create nightmare angles for hitters. Plenty of room to grow. Plenty of time to do so. Far from the last time you will see Parker on your reels 📈📈 27 Oct 2026 One of the most consistent, hardest working guys we have on-site - @ezraflores03 is taking matters into his own hands, putting on 20 pounds over the last few months, now moving faster and more fluid than he ever has. A prime example of letting your guys be good at what they’re good at. This allows him to be unique, maintaining a low release height and around 7ft of extension. A super unique arm rising in the 2028 class 📈📈 26 Oct 2026
