Under the leadership of YoshimiO @emeraldragonfly a founding member of Boredoms, the group has recorded music that have subverted expectations and warped perceptions of what constitutes pop and experimental music. OOIOO began as a fictitious band for a photo shoot for Switch magazine in 1996. The all-female four-piece ensemble includes Yoshimi, guitarist Kayan, bassist Aya and Ritsuko Mishina on drums. The band quickly gained attention by being the opening act for @sonicyouth_official in 1997. While the band’s tours of the United States are infrequent, they are as the New York Times has stated, transcendent - taking their love of indigenous music into an entirely new dimension by freely weaving organic and electric tones into a vivid tapestry, employing their keen sense of color and texture. OOIOO's music is constantly evolving from release to release, from one band to another. Intense performers and creators, drawing from a wide range of influences, the band has invented a heartfelt musical language that is eclectic yet accessible and completely their own - dense and frantic. OOIOO has always been the best outlet from YoshimiO to articulate her unique talents and swirling, dreamy tunes. --- Hassan K is the solo project of Franco-Iranian artist Keyvane Alinaghi. A sound artist and DIY tinkerer, hacker using free software. On stage, he performs a unique and extreme live experience, bordering on trance. He crafts and repurposes traditional instruments (a microtonal guitar enhanced with sensors, a robotic santoor, an electric zurna) to get as close as possible to the audience and create compositions at the intersection of mystical Persian rituals and contemporary music. Bollywoodcore, oriental surf music, hindustrial techno… a blend of swing, cyber-metal, electronica, harsh noise, and rock in opposition, amplified by the sounds of Iranian spiritual knighthood. 02 Nov 2026

We refuse to simply pass down our music while it’s categorized as “world music.” We hit it off during a conversation @sunshinejuicelab in Kyoto, with @nori_kooo acting as our interpreter, and honestly, I’m truly happy that what happened back then has now become a reality in the form of this split 7'EP. 愛がとうvery mucho🫶🏽🙏🫶🏽 SAICOBAB’s ‘Death Nap The Dance II’ is a ferocious 6 minute track consisting of in your face vocals by #YoshimiO (also of OOIOO), electronics and sitar played by master sitar player, composer, and arranger specializing in North Indian music, #YoshidaDaikiti . Yoshida has been studying Indian music and the sitar since 1996, and since 2006, he has studied under Ustad Shujaat Khan, the 7th-generation master of the prestigious Imdad School—India’s only sitar school. As SAICOBAB mentions “‘Death Nap The Dance II’ is written on the basis of the traditional Raga Sarang family. However, for SAICOBAB, a new interpretation of Raga has been added for being in a dream in a nap. This Quaternity dance music that expands raga (melody) and tala (rhythm) into the realm of the imaginary!” TAKAAT’s side features the song ‘Ikapkaban’ written by Ibrahim Ahamet aka Bibi Ahmed of Groupe Inerane and arranged by TAKAAT. This track features blown out drum machines, guitar, bass, and electronics recorded to 1/2” tape immediately following a 7 week US tour. When talking with Ahmoudou about Bibi Ahmed, he casually mentioned Bibi was the first guy to bring the electric guitar to Niger from Libya. A huge deal as the guitar became a key figure in the sound of the Agadez, Niger Taureg Wedding guitar rock scene! I remember hearing this song apart of Sublime Frequencies amazing Guitar’s From Agadez compilations that started coming out in 2010. Hearing Hisham Mayet’s raw recordings by these Agadez Taureg groups truly changed my life and this cover feels like a full circle homage. 29 Oct 2026
