So many new faces here, so I wanted to reintroduce myself. I’m Dr. Massie.
I’m a family physician with a special interest in skin health and aesthetics. Basically, if your skin is doing something confusing, dramatic, suspicious, itchy, inflamed, acne-related, mole-related, aging-related, or just deeply annoying… I can probably help.
I see patients of all ages for medical skin concerns, including babies, kids, teens, adults, and seniors. I also provide cosmetic injectables, including Botox and dermal fillers, with a focus on natural-looking results, balance, and education.
My goal is simple: help you understand what is going on with your skin and give you a realistic treatment plan.
You can find me at my clinic, COCO Laser & Skin in NW Calgary, where we offer medical skin care, cosmetic injectables, laser treatments, skin rejuvenation, facials, hair restoration, and more.

The overfilled look you're scared of is a real thing. Let's talk about how it happens.
It happens gradually. Nobody asks for it. Someone adds a little, gets used to it, adds a little more, and loses their reference point.
It happens when filler chases the wrong problem.
It happens when nobody says no. That's my job. I have talked plenty of people out of a syringe, and I'll do it again.
Good work is invisible. You look rested. You look like the version of you that had eight hours of sleep and a week off.

I see a lot of patients who assume dry, irritated skin is simply part of living in Calgary.
Sometimes the climate absolutely contributes. But when skin is consistently itchy, flaky, red, burning, or suddenly reacting to products that used to be fine, there can be more going on.
Eczema, irritation, changes in the skin barrier, environmental factors, and age-related skin changes can all play a role. One thing I see often is people trying to solve the problem by adding more products. More actives. More serums. More steps. 👉For me, the important part is understanding why the skin is reacting in the first place.
For medical skin concerns like eczema, rashes, and persistent dryness, appointments with me are covered by Alberta Health and no referral is needed.

Let's be honest about the limits of Botox, because managing expectations is half of doing this well.
It relaxes muscles. That's it. Lines that appear when you move are its territory. Lines sitting on your face at rest need something else.
It will not lift loose skin. If gravity is the issue, muscle relaxation is the wrong tool and I will tell you so.
It will not fix texture, tone, or sun damage. Those live in the skin, not the muscle.
It will not replace sleep, water, or sunscreen. I know. I wish too.🤣
Here's what it does beautifully. It softens the frown that makes you look angry when you're just concentrating. It smooths the forehead you've been raising for forty years.

I see acne in teenagers, adults, and plenty of people who were promised they would “grow out of it.”
Apparently, acne didn't get that memo.👀
Adult acne is common, including breakouts that follow a hormonal pattern around the chin, jawline, neck, and lower face. And acne is rarely as simple as finding the perfect cleanser. Hormones, oil production, inflammation, genetics, skincare, and other factors can all influence what is happening. That is why I do not approach every patient with the same treatment plan.
For some people, topical treatments make sense. For others, prescription options or a different medical approach may be part of the conversation.
There is something especially rude about having a mortgage, a career, and a painful chin breakout at the same time.
Acne appointments with me are covered by Alberta Health and no referral is needed.
