Movement is one of the most powerful tools we have for improving our healthâand it doesnât require being a professional athlete.
I loved sharing my experience during the partnership with @hyroxamerica and @nyulangone to talk about how regular exercise can help prevent disease, improve longevity, support mental health, and keep us feeling our best.
Whether youâre training for your first HYROX event or simply finding more ways to move each day, every workout is an investment in your future health.
What stood out most to me wasnât just the competitionâit was the community: people of all ages and fitness levels challenging themselves, supporting one another, and celebrating what their bodies can do.
Healthcare doesnât begin and end in the exam room. It happens wherever people invest in their health.
Because health happens everywhereâand itâs even more powerful when we move together. đĽ

The millennial call has been activated. đ¨đ
If you know this song, itâs probably time to talk to your doctor about your breast cancer risk and screening. đ
Know your risk. Know when to start screening. And donât wait for a reminder from a 2003 banger. đ
Shoutout to therealrahulrai for inspiring this Reel! Recognize your old math classmate NP Kelly? đ

Hereâs the thing about cancer care: Sometimes the cancer itself isnât whatâs making day-to-day life the hardest.
Maybe itâs anxiety, changes in relationships, fatigue, body image, sexual health, or figuring out how to stay active in a body that suddenly feels different.
And sometimes patients donât realize these are things they can bring up at an oncology appointment.
Please do.
We want to know whatâs affecting your quality of life, what you miss doing, and how you want to LIVE.
These conversations help us identify concerns, offer support, and connect you with the right resources.
Your scans and labs tell us how your cancer is doing. They donât tell us how YOU are doing.
And we need to know both. â¤ď¸

Breast Cancer Awareness Month might end October 31, but breast cancer doesnât take the other 11 months off. đЎ
Weâre showing up 365 days a year because awareness doesnât stop when October ends.So hereâs your reminder: Feel it on the first. EVERY month. Get to know your breasts, check for changes, stay on top of your screenings, and advocate for more funding for lifesaving breast cancer research.𩷠Now itâs your turn!
Tag someone who needs this reminder, share this post, and help us turn awareness into ACTION. Because showing up once a year isnât enough.More research. More breakthroughs. More survivors. đ

3 things Iâve STOPPED doing as a physician. Wish Iâd stopped sooner.
A white coat can hide a lot. Including excuses. đł
1ď¸âŁ Putting my own health last.
As physicians, weâre trained to put patients first. As women, weâre often conditioned to put everyone else first. Neither should mean neglecting ourselves.
2ď¸âŁ Assuming knowing better means doing better.
Iâm an oncologist. I know the science. But knowing the science doesnât make me immune to excuses. đŹ
Hereâs whatâs worked for me: I have a trainer (a privilege I recognize), and I make plans with friendsâwhether itâs a workout, dance class, or walk. I schedule everything well in advance.
And a good workout playlist. The more questionable the lyrics, the better the motivation. đĽ
Accountability beats willpower. Consistency beats motivation.
3ď¸âŁ Defining health as the absence of disease.
Health is about so much more than avoiding a diagnosis. Itâs about strength, independence, and quality of life as we age.
If this resonates with you, find a doctor who practices what they preach. đ
Thanks to @fffstrong for keeping me accountable with the best training program! đŞ

Just like no two fingerprints are alike, no two breast cancers are exactly the same. So why treat them as if they are? Thatâs where molecular oncology comes in.
With molecular oncology, the unique DNA profile of each individual tumor is analyzed to help care teams personalize the type and duration of treatment, match patients with specific clinical trials, and adjust treatment approaches based on tumor response during treatment. At NYU Langone Healthâs Perlmutter Cancer Center, every patient with breast cancer can access this tailored approach, which requires just a simple blood draw.
Watch Dr. Shridar Ganesan, director of our Center for Molecular Oncology, and Dr. Elizabeth Comen, a breast oncologist and co-director of the Mignone Womenâs Health Collaborative, explain how molecular oncology is helping advance more personalized breast cancer care. Head to the link in bio to learn more.

đĽ New womenâs heart health guidance just dropped. And every woman should pay attention.
Heart disease is the #1 cause of death among women.
Not breast cancer. Not all cancers combined. Heart disease.
Four major medical organizations have joined forces to release coordinated guidance on womenâs cardiovascular health across the lifespan.
And hereâs the encouraging part: An estimated 80% of cardiovascular disease may be preventable through early action and risk-factor management.
So what should you know?
â¤ď¸ Your heart has a history. Puberty, menstrual history, pregnancy, and menopause all matter. PCOS, preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, and early menopause can provide important clues about your future cardiovascular risk.
â¤ď¸ Know your numbers. Blood pressure. Cholesterol. Blood sugar. Know your family history, too. Ask your doctor about Lp(a) testing, the PREVENT risk calculator, and whether a coronary calcium scan makes sense for you.
â¤ď¸ Know the warning signs. Chest pain is the most common heart attack symptom in women. But shortness of breath, nausea, jaw or back pain, and unusual fatigue can also be warning signs. And can we please stop calling womenâs symptoms âatypicalâ?
â¤ď¸ Prevention isnât just about cardio. Strength training, aerobic exercise, nutrition, sleep, and managing risk factors all matter. And if youâve had cancer treatment, some therapies can affect your cardiovascular health, too.
The takeaway? Donât wait for symptoms to start thinking about your heart.
Know your numbers. Know your history. Move your body.
And for the record, you can be a cardio bunny AND a muscle mommy. Your heart benefits from both. đŞâ¤ď¸

The irony of this photo popping up in my memories today while my feed is flooded with billion-dollar AI deals, new models, longevity hacks, and predictions about whether AI will save humanity or destroy it.
Honestly, I canât keep up.
I spend a lot of time with people on some of the worst days of their lives.
And thank God for AI notes. Seriously. Iâm all for technology that helps us deliver better care and spend less time on administrative nonsense.
But amid all these technological upgrades, I just hope we donât forget the human part.
And to the patient who sent me this photo years agoâI didnât need the photo to remind me. I never forgot. â¤ď¸
