AD | Day 5/7 of drawing a different object every day for a week, but YOU get to choose what I draw! @katysellick suggested some tomatoes! 🍅 And if you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know I’ve drawn a LOT of tomatoes over the years, using lots of different materials. So I was really excited to draw them with @derwentartofficial Chromaqua pencils, a new range of 150 water-soluble colours designed to dissolve into vibrant watercolour washes. For today’s drawing, I layered lots of different reds, oranges and pinks before adding water to blend everything together. I love how vibrant the colours turned out! Here are eight of the shades I used for the tomatoes: Scarlet (0500), Pure Red (0510), Strawberry (0600), Cardinal Red (0450), Sangria (0620), Shiraz (0630), Red Orange (0430) and Rose Pink (0925). I finished with the blue background in the gorgeous Blue Orchid (1220)! What unusual everyday object should I draw tomorrow? AD | Day 4/7 of drawing a different object every day for a week, but YOU get to choose what I draw! @saraharmstrongart_hq suggested a pink donut and I just knew straight away this would be a fun one to draw! I’m using @derwentartofficial Chromaqua pencils, a range of 150 water-soluble colours designed to dissolve into vibrant watercolour washes. Today I focussed on using 3 shades of pink on the icing - a darker shade (Jazzberry 0905) a medium shade (Cerise Pink 0820) and a paler pink (Rose Pink 0925) and blended them together to get that 3D effect. I finished it off with 4 vibrant shades for the colourful sprinkles on top (Orange Crush 0415, Lemon 0030, Turquoise Green 1500 and Blue 1300) What unusual everyday object should I draw tomorrow? Thank you SO much for all your suggestions yesterday! @runrunmumtum suggested an open tin of sardines! 🐟 I’ve seen so many versions of these online but I’ve never actually drawn one myself, so today was my chance to give it a go! I’m using @derwentartofficial Chromaqua pencils, a range of 150 water-soluble colours designed to dissolve into vibrant watercolour washes. I think I used over 30 different colours for this one, especially lots of different blues for the little sardines! My favourite colour by far is the gorgeous light blue I used in the background (Glacier Blue 1310) What unusual everyday object should I draw tomorrow? Yesterday @katherine.gildea suggested a four leaf clover, and being Irish... how could I resist? 🍀 I’m using @derwentartofficial Chromaqua pencils, a range of 150 watersoluble colours designed to dissolve into vibrant watercolour washes. I used about eight different shades of green for this little clover (I used Basil 1600, Follage 1700, pastel mint 1520, olivine 1801, lemon lime 1820, obsidian green 1540 and Lincoln green 1832)!
