“The sprawling Nara exhibition… is the reintroduction to his work you didn’t know you needed.” —Deborah Solomon via @NYTimes on Yoshitomo Nara, now on view across our Chelsea galleries in New York. Read the full feature via the link in bio.
The nearly 100 works in this exhibition demonstrate Nara’s technical mastery and his deeply personal sensibility. A connection with nature and all living things is present in the artist’s work, stemming from his memories of snow-covered landscapes and his solitary childhood in Aomori, in rural northern Japan, at a time when the nation’s rapid economic growth had yet to reach the region.
+ Next Thursday, November 12, on the occasion of the inaugural Art Week NYC, our Chelsea galleries will be open for evening hours until 8 PM.

Tonight, Jem Perucchini’s (@JemPerucchini) Sospiro opens in New York at #DavidZwirnerTribeca, marking the artist’s first exhibition in the United States.
Taking its title from a 2026 painting on view, Sospiro—the Italian word for “sigh”—refers to a fleeting gesture that is at once a breath, a pause, and a release. Both essential and transient, audible and invisible, the sigh represents, for Perucchini, a passage between the inner self and the external world, between soul and body, and between what is held within and what is expressed.
Join us for extended hours from 6 to 8 PM this evening as well as Friday, November 13, on the occasion of Art Week NYC.

"Images show up at a certain time in my life, when I'm busy with something, so I don't really look for images, the image finds me. In a way I'd call it autobiographical... Probably all the different series emerge from my everyday life." — Thomas Ruff in conversation with @reubenberenjames for @emergentmagazine
Ahead of his upcoming solo exhibition at @DavidZwirner's Los Angeles gallery opening November 11, @thomasruff_com spoke with Reuben Beren James for the latest issue of @emergentmagazine, offering insight into his artistic practice and his ongoing exploration of photography and image-making. We Come in Peace (2018), a monumental bronze sculpture by Huma Bhabha, is now on view in the newly revitalized sculpture garden at @hirshhorn in Washington, DC.
Originally conceived as a rooftop commission for the @MetMuseum, the towering, many-faced figure stands more than 12 feet tall. First hand-carved in cork and Styrofoam and subsequently cast in bronze, the work draws its title from Robert Wise’s 1951 film The Day the Earth Stood Still. Embedded within a long sculptural tradition extending from ancient Eastern statuary through Western classicism to modernism, We Come in Peace poses questions about the familiar and unfamiliar, the alien and the native. “I decided to write down a list of verbs and enact them as designated activities in relationship to time, place, material, mass, gravity.... The 'Verb List' established a logic whereby the process that constituted a sculpture remains transparent.” —Richard Serra (1938–2024) on compiling his instrumental Verb List (1967)
Today, we celebrate Richard Serra, born #onthisday in 1938. Though best known for his large-scale steel sculptures, Serra’s Verb List functions as a conceptual manifesto, distilling his art practice to pure process by establishing, in the artist’s words, “a series of conditions to enable me to work in an unanticipated manner and provoke the unexpected.” Serra’s resulting sculptures can be read through the lens of his Verb List: physical manifestations of actions, rendered in weight and space.
