“I painted this during the recording of the BBC World Service documentary about my practice, and it became the starting point for the exhibition. The title began to mean more to me during the final weeks of pregnancy. There were moments when everything seemed to depend on the next movement, or the next heartbeat. A few seconds of waiting could feel enormous.
For me, this painting sits in that space - after something has been sensed, but before you know what it means.”
Opening soon at our Cork Street space is Bianca Raffaella: Between Heartbeats.
An exhibition of a new series of paintings by @biancaraffaella, Between Heartbeats charts a deeply personal and transformative chapter in the British artist’s practice.
Renowned for her evocative figurative and floral works that translate her perceptual experience through ethereal marks and layered surfaces, Raffaella now reflects on new motherhood, infusing it with a broader inquiry into identity and metamorphosis.
The body of work is the subject of the 2026 @bbcworldservice In the Studio audio documentary, produced by @saharzand5.
📌 Bianca Raffaella: Between Heartbeats runs 20 November 2026 – 2 January 2027 at Flowers, 21 Cork Street, London W1.

“Michael Wolf held his gaze between two opposing forces of the city: on one side, the immense, dense, repetitive, and hyper-efficient urban structure; on the other, the small freedoms that the ordinary people living within it still managed to preserve. This act of watching is itself a small but genuine form of autonomy. Through such watching, we may rediscover, within the life the city has already arranged for us, all that has not yet been arranged—light, time, chance, memory, and the poetry that an ordinary person can still call their own.” – Lin Ye
Opening in Shanghai this weekend is Michael Wolf: The Silent Man Walks Into the City. Curated by Lin Ye, Academic Advisor to Fujifilm (China), the exhibition explores Michael’s lifelong fascination with modern megacities, bringing together works from Architecture of Density, Tokyo Compression, Street View, Paris Rooftops, Cheung Chau Sunrises and Chinese Portraits, among others.
Visit the exhibition from 6 November – 14 December 2026 at FUJIFILM X-SPACE · Shanghai. Opening reception Saturday 7 November from 15.00-17.00.

On view now at our Hong Kong space is Tai Shan Schierenberg: Mixed Blessings.
An expansion of the artist’s ongoing exploration of the convergence of identity, memory, and cultural inheritance, through landscapes and portraits painted in rich, accumulated layers of colour and gesture, Schierenberg considers what it means to belong. Moving between the lived and the envisioned, Schierenberg embraces the contradictions and affinities that emerge across cultures and histories, both personal and collective.
📌 Tai Shan Schierenberg: Mixed Blessings runs through 21 November 2026 at Flowers, 49 Tung Street, Sheung Wan.

We’re delighted to highlight that Aleah Chapin (@aleah_chapin) is featured in Sound & Vision, an online auction presented by @warchilduk and curated by @aoapprojects. All proceeds support War Child’s life-changing work with children affected by conflict.
Chapin is one of 61 contemporary artists who have made original work in response to a lyric from @paulmccartney and Wings’ ‘Band on the Run’, chosen by Paul himself: “Well, the rain exploded with a mighty crash as we fell into the sun.”
The exhibition and auction pair music and art to raise vital funds for War Child’s work providing specialist mental health support, education, protection, and immediate aid to children whose lives have been devastated by war.

We’re delighted to highlight ‘After Benches’ (1973) by Tom Phillips, on view now in ‘Beyond Bayeux: Tapestry Now’ at @guildhallartlondon.
Related to a contemporaneous body of Tom Phillips’s work using postcards of park benches as source material, ‘After Benches’ was woven by Edinburgh Tapestry Company (now Dovecot Studios) in 1973.
Celebrating the arrival of the Bayeux Tapestry in the UK, the exhibition explores the past, present and future of tapestry, featuring extraordinary collaborations between @dovecotstudios master weavers and leading artists who are redefining tapestry today.

Today we’re remembering Richard Smith CBE (1931-2016) on his birthday.
Richard Smith was one of the most influential artists of his generation. After studying in the 1950s at the Royal College of Art alongside artists such as Peter Blake and Robyn Denny, Smith stood apart from the burgeoning Pop Art movement of the 1960s by melding the slick and vibrant imagery found in the commercial landscape with an expansive abstract visual language.
Questioning the two-dimensional properties of painting itself, as well as its conventional materials of canvas and stretcher, he gained critical acclaim for extending the boundaries of painting into three dimensions, creating protruding, sculptural-shaped works with monumental presence.
In ‘Maryland’ (1972), Smith turns its medium into the subject, pushing the stretched canvas to its limits. Orange tapes are woven in and out of the surface, enlarging the hidden grid of the canvas weave, while the lower edge peels away from the wall and curls into the room.
Presented as form as much as picture, the canvas becomes a field that changes how colour is seen, something Smith valued as much as enquiry into space and movement.

Flowers Gallery presents ‘William Crozier: Dance of the Living, 1961 – 1974’, on view until 14 November.
The exhibition explores a pivotal period in the artist’s career when he left behind the dark pastoral images with which he made his reputation in the late 1950s and, profoundly affected by post-war existentialist philosophy, he challenged himself to create a contemporary image of the human condition through figure and landscape.

Join us in wishing a happy birthday to Movana Chen (@movanachen), whose presentation at our Cork Street space is now extended through 14 November.
Accompanying Chen’s recent powerful series of performances of ‘Questioning the Line’ at @thecoronettheatre, this new body of work extends Chen’s longstanding exploration of place and connection. Maps sourced from across the world are shredded and knitted together by hand, fragmenting the familiar words, grids, symbols and borders of cartography and transforming them into intricate sculptural forms.
Through Chen’s process, the map becomes a fluid expression of memory and our shared experience.

Today we’re wishing a happy birthday to Jakkai Siributr (@jakkai), as we highlight his generously donated work for Asia Art Archive’s 2026 Annual Fundraiser auction.
‘Your History is Not Ours’ is part of the Phayao-a-Porter project, which Siributr initiated during the pandemic to support artisans in the Thai province of Phayao. The project offered artisans temporary employment and fair wages, and artwork proceeds supported scholarships and welfare.
Siributr invited participating seamstresses and dressmakers to embellish and embroider found and pre-used garments with figurative designs and messages about social issues. The series sheds light on the challenges faced by marginalised communities while also spotlighting their voices and craft.
This annual fundraiser is an essential source of funding for @asiaartarchive. Proceeds directly support AAA’s ongoing work and mission to document and share knowledge about contemporary art in Asia, while ensuring materials remain free and accessible for all.
🔗 Learn more and bid online via the link in our bio now through 6 November 2026.

On view now at our Cork Street space is William Crozier: Dance of the Living, 1961–1974.
Crozier’s work during this period drew on diverse sources, including his memories of the horrific newsreels of World War II, and depictions of the ‘danses macabres’.
In these paintings of the 1960s and early 1970s, Crozier often spoke of his desire for the landscape not to be identified as a specific country or area, but more a traumatised natural environment of the imagination.
For the artist, the figures themselves were always in heightened emotional states, whether triumphant, anxious or utterly desolate; their emotions in vibrant streaks of paint emanate from their forms into their surroundings, figure and landscape becoming one.
Visit the exhibition now through 14 November at Flowers, 21 Cork Street, London W1.
