What is the Brooklyn Cat Cafe? And how do we help cats? For those of you who don’t know us — hello! Thanks for joining along in our adventures in animal rescue.
The Brooklyn Cat Cafe is a volunteer-run adoption center and community space working to reduce animal homelessness through education, TNR and outreach. We are the only non-profit cat cafe in New York City.
Since opening in 2016, we have rescued over 5,000 cats and more than 100 other animals including dogs, guinea pigs, rats, rabbits, mice and a chicken. Well over 3,000 animals have been placed in permanent adoptive homes and over 800 cats have been TNRed. In 2021 we started the BBAWC rescue clinic which so far has done over 4,500 exams and over 1,200 spay/neuter surgeries.
Now it’s your turn — how did you find us? Have you visited the cafe or brought cats to our clinic? Or did you just stumble on one of our cat videos? Tell us in the comments — the cats are very excited to learn more about their fans.

🚨URGENT PLEA FOR NYC CAT FOSTERS🚨
We need your help! We are FULL, but there are so many more cats in need of a place to stay. Become a foster and help us say yes to the next cat. Fosters give newly rescued cats a place to decompress and (re)learn how to live in a home before they go on to a forever home. Every cat that goes to foster frees up a spot for another cat.
Have you been considering fostering? This is your sign to return! Did you foster in the past but take a break? Come on back! We have cats of all ages and temperaments — from kittens who love to play to older cats who just need a comfy place to rest their paws. Apply online at catcafebk.com/foster-info. Questions or concerns? DM us 🙏

Binomial’s story starts with a lot of loss. He was found at around 4 months old, the only one of his litter to survive. Then we brought his mom, Benchmark, inside, and within a day she had a new litter in the trap. Sadly, all but one of those babies passed away.
The happy part: Benchmark and her surviving baby, MCAT, both found loving homes, and they’re thriving. Their families might even bring them back together someday 🥹
Binomial came through serious infections that initally cost him his fur (it has grown back!), and in the last few months he’s become so much braver and friendlier. He’s a sweet guy who is easily won over with churu 🐈⬛
Now it’s his turn! He needs to be adopted with a friend, so come in to meet him and apply through the link in our bio!

Halloween is over, but these fugitives are still in costume and laying low 🎃
They caused a little too much mischief, and now they’re all wanted for adoption. Swipe to identify the suspects, and tell us which one you’d harbor.
Ready to blow their cover? Come meet them in person, or reach out to start an adoption application. Some can be adopted solo, and some need a partner in crime.
Share this post to help us catch these suspects a home. 🧡
Our Insta-famous girl, now available for adoption. She’s happier than ever and needs an adopter prepared for her special needs. Ask us about her care.
Shy at first, but gentle pets and a wand toy win him over. Loves sunny naps, toy mice, and the occasional zoomie. His brother Hoyt (not pictured) is a silvery, marble-eyed goofball who melts into laps. They go home together.
A smart, loving boy who meows until you put him on your lap. Wobbly but determined, and he’s a litterbox pro. He’d love to be your only cat. Ask us about his CH.
A sweet orange cutie, ready to be the sunshine in your home! Come meet Strawberry Açaí in person to learn more.
The one, the only. Still looking for his special someone. Ask us about him!
Still a little shy, but we think she’ll blossom once she’s in a home of her own. Give her time, patience, and a quiet space and we know she’ll come out of her shell ❤️
A sweet tabby bottle baby who has never met a person he doesn’t like. Brave, affectionate, and adaptable. His sister, Count Chocula (not pictured), is a package deal.
Sweet, affectionate, and brave. Loves a good wrestling match followed by a cuddle. His brother Eddie (not pictured) goes home with him.
Cuddly, affectionate, and always on a lap. Big energy and big love, best with an experienced cat owner. Must be adopted with a friend. Ask us about his health.
A little shy until the toys come out. Loves playtime, snacktime, and sunny-window naps. His buddy Onion (not pictured) goes home with him.
Apprehended and adopted! Off the wanted list.
Old sweet old-lady ambassador who hangs out with the kids during classes. Not up for adoption, just very loved.
The disguises are still on, but the cats are very real, and every one of them is l

Happy trap Tuesday! Swipe to meet our newest faces, learn a bit more about the TNR process, then tap the link in bio if you’d like to chip in.
This week we rescued cats from the Bronx all the way to Brooklyn. Each one that’s trapped gets spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and ear-tipped. Every cat starts in a covered trap because cats feel safest in small, confined spaces. ❤️
A gift of $30 covers one cat’s initial medical services that we’ve rescued this week, and we’d love your support!

Cat bingo is the best part of our Halloween party, and we’re not just saying that because the cats are the prize 🐈⬛
Spot the cats on your card, race to fill it, and play alongside cat trivia, a costume contest, with fun prizes for winners! It’s cozy, a little competitive, and surrounded by the best selection of black cats in the city. 🖤
🎟️ Party guests play bingo as part of the fun
🐾 Not coming to the party? Pick up a card at the front and play for fun anytime this week!
📅 Halloween night, 6:30-8:00pm
🔞 Adults only, costumes encouraged

This is Avogadro Toast, named for her extra toes and for today being Avogadro Day (Mole Day, if you’re a chemistry nerd)🥼⚛️
She showed up at a colony in the Bronx this week, super hungry and super sweet. She’s brand new to us and may be available for adoption quite soon, depending on how things go! She’s one of many friendlies we’ve gotten lately, and she just happens to have a very silly name :)
Stay tuned for updates on our newest friend 🐈

⚠️ WARNING: DO NOT SWIPE ⚠️
The following animals are EXTREMELY terrifying. And now they’re in costume, so it’s worse. We cannot be held responsible for the sudden urge to take everyone home.
🤠 Harley rode into town in a cowboy hat and he is the most dangerous outlaw in Brooklyn. Wanted for stealing hearts, still on the loose (a.k.a. up for adoption).
🐀 Our female albino rats are absolute menaces, they couldn’t even be pictured. Ask us about them, if you dare.
🐇 Maple is up for adoption with her brother, and yes, they’re a package deal!
🐱 And the cats? Don’t even get us started. Several are bonded pairs, which means double the terror and double the snuggles. Bonded buddies go home together, so inquire about the pairs and come meet them in person. Fair warning: they’re even scarier face to face.
🎉 Speaking of terrifying, Little Buttons got adopted! Congratulations to his new family. We’re devastated (we are actually thrilled).
📅 Brave enough to meet them? Come by on Discount Thursdays and make your bravery cost less. Feel free to DM us or stop in to meet our bonded pairs!
