Love to talk about new weather words and this is a brilliant one...Dunkelflaute. Which more is more commonly known in the U.K. as anticyclonic gloom.
But it’s a potentially serious issue. House of Lords Peers have been discussing Dunkelflaute this week as we start to rely more on wind and solar energy. If we get Dunkelflaute’s in the future (could they happen more often?), would we still have enough resilience if there was gloomy skies and light winds?
