Find something and make it spooky!! Then send it to us (link in bio) and we'll do a feature post on Halloween. It can be an edited photo, an artwork, a blackout or any other form of spookifying. We cannot wait to see what you find and make spooky. 👻

This photo is from the Belgiani Antarctic Expedition of 1897–1899, which was the first expedition to overwinter in Antarctica. It is of the Belgian explorer and naval officer Georges Lecointe (left) alongside Polish meteorologist and geologist Henryk Arctowski (right) having tea in the mess room.

Happy spooky season. Here are some more elaborate couplets where the second line is the metaphorical image of the first. This is how Ezra Pound approached their couplet compartment ng faces to petals.

A couple couplets with the mechanics of the infamous Ezra Pound couplet, but more simple. When we remove verbs and we try and build images with such limitations, how far can we push it? How rich can we get? These are more matter of fact whereas Ezra used a more metaphorical approach. I'll explore those next.

I woke up at 6am with this kicking around in my brain. Grief is a magician.

We've never posted our personal poetry here, but these belong here. What a weird, kind, wonderful, beautiful, cruel, strange, extraordinary, heartbreaking, uplifting, joyous, devastating week.

Sometimes, all you need is a room full of people willing to feel something together. 🟡
@ashraymondjames is the founder of @yellowlamppoetry , a community built around something bigger than poetry itself: connection
For Ash, poetry is ultimately about expression and honesty giving a piece of yourself to the page and letting that moment live forever.
But Yellow Lamp is about creating a space where people can feel, share, laugh, cry and simply be around other humans.
Ash has seen people come back again and again, even proudly admitting they “don’t even like poetry.”
Because maybe they’re not coming for the poems.
Maybe they're coming for the atmosphere.
The people.
The laughter.
The feeling of belonging.
And that's what makes Yellow Lamp special.
A place where someone can get on stage and share something deeply personal then finish the night laughing together.
This is Ash.
This is Yellow Lamp Poetry.
And this is Humans Are Awesome celebrating good people doing good things. ❤️

I wrote a bunch of poems titled 'My Grandmother is diagnosed with dementia and ____' and during that session I made this blackout. I now have enough poems for a full collection.
