We’re excited to announce that Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation has officially surpassed $400M raised in the fight against childhood cancer! 🎉🎉🎉 It all traces back to our founder, Alex Scott, whose lemonade stand inspired a nationwide grassroots movement that’s made this progress possible since her first stand in 2000: 🍋 Funded more than 1,500 research projects across North America and Europe 🍋 In 1997, when Alex was diagnosed with cancer, survival rates for childhood cancer were just 77%. Today, they’re 85% in the U.S. 🍋 Since our first grant, FDA-approved childhood cancer treatments have increased from 18 to more than 60 today. Thank you to every corporate partner, fundraiser, donor, event attendee and anyone who's helped deliver this incredible progress. We won’t stop until a future free of childhood cancer becomes a reality. 28 Oct 2026 Share this post to raise awareness for childhood cancer on #WorldCancerDay 🎗️ Did you know ninety percent of children diagnosed with cancer each year live in the poorest countries—the low- and middle-income countries where families earn less and have less access to critical medical infrastructure? This World Cancer Day, we are spreading awareness about the inequities that exist for kids with cancer in countries with lower incomes and less medical infrastructure. Learn about the facts in our blog linked in bio. 04 Feb 2026 Alex believed that together, we can cure childhood cancer; a belief that’s resulted not only in a Foundation bearing her name, but in breakthroughs and cures for children fighting cancer, just like her. Since that first stand, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation has been able to: 🍋 Fund more than 1,000 research projects at nearly 150 institutions - developing safer, more effective treatment options for children fighting cancer 🍋 Assist thousands of children to travel for treatment - financial support for families from the Travel For Care program has helped children reach treatment options beyond their home hospital 🍋 Expand resources for families - from childhood cancer guides to empowering siblings of all ages, families have more resources than ever to navigate a diagnosis Donate to ALSF today and you’ll help make Alex’s vision for a future free of childhood cancer for all kids come true - link in profile. 20 Dec 2022 Sometimes, the most powerful reminders of why we do this work come from the people we meet along the way. ❤️ At this year's L.A. Loves Alex’s Lemonade, Liz Scott met a young boy who proudly shared that he was cancer-free after facing neuroblastoma, the same type of cancer Alex had. His story was a great reminder of the children and families at the heart of this community and the difference we can make when we come together. To everyone who supported L.A. Loves Alex’s Lemonade, thank you for being part of this incredible community, honoring Alex’s legacy, and helping bring hope to families facing childhood cancer. We couldn't make this much progress in childhood cancer research without you! 🍋 06 Nov 2026 This month, we are grateful for YOU 💛 During this month of giving, we wanted to thank everyone who has supported Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Whether you have donated, held a lemonade stand, rallied a Million Mile team, attended a fundraising event, or brought your community together, you have been making a difference. Thanks to your support, we have surpassed more than $400 million raised in the fight against childhood cancer this year. Your generosity has the power to turn lemons into lemonade. This month, we raise our glass (of lemonade) to you. Did you know that childhood cancer is not the same as adult cancer? The term childhood cancer refers to a large set of diseases that cause abnormal cell growth in the body. There are childhood cancer types that affect virtually all areas of the body. Here are some common myths (and the facts) about childhood cancer. Myth: Childhood cancer is the same as adult cancer. While the names of cancer seem the same across pediatric and adult diagnoses, childhood cancers are not the same and cancer in children requires its own type of treatments, that are safe for growing bodies. For adults, the average age at cancer diagnosis is 67 years old. The average age for a childhood cancer diagnosis is 8 years old. Myth: Childhood cancer is rare, so it impacts less people. The impact of childhood cancer reaches entire families. Not only does the affected child miss out on years of healthy life, but parents, siblings, and extended family members are impacted. Over half of all families surveyed by ALSF traveled over 25 miles for treatment, impacting work schedules, finances, and home life. Myth: All kids with cancer get chemotherapy. Treatment depends on the type of cancer and may include surgery, radiation, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies. Myth: When kids finish treatment they are finished with cancer. In the United States, there are 500,000 survivors of childhood cancer. Survivors face a myriad of potential long-term side effects and are twice as likely to suffer from chronic health conditions later in life versus children without a history of cancer. Myth: There are no drugs approved specifically for children with cancer. Since 1950, just over 60 drugs have been approved by the FDA for children with cancer. That's the same number the FDA typically approves for adults in a single year. Myth: There is nothing we can do to stop childhood cancer. Everyone can make a difference! Host a lemonade stand, join The Million Mile or find another creative way to fundraise for ALSF to help kids with cancer! 📸by Ryan Kurtz, for Flashes of Hope 03 Nov 2026 🍋 Yesterday, our incredible Team Lemon runners ran 26.2 miles through all five NYC boroughs, and squeezed out something even sweeter: hope for kids with cancer! 💛 Thank you to everyone who donned a bib and crossed the finish line at the #NYCMarathon yesterday while raising funds for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.
