Many years ago, when I was in art school at ASU, I would obsess over @phoenixnewtimes in my downtime between classes. They've always been plugged into the coolest cultural aspects of Phoenix metro, but more importantly for me at the time was the art. The magazine featured the most inspiring art from incredible talents all over the Valley. The thought of being part of what I saw as a beacon of good taste in the place I lived was very aspirational. Twenty years and a great deal of creative work experience later, and the dream came true. With the art direction of the awesome @neon_juan I've created the seven full-page section illustrations for the big "Best of Phoenix" issue this year. Three more of the full-page section illustrations for the categories in this year's @phoenixnewtimes Best of Phoenix issue. Cannabis took a psychedelic 60s approach, Goods & Services a more geometric look inspired by an old illustration of mine, and Fun & Games leaned into my own personal preference toward a playful mascot-centric art style. I had such a fun time getting to switch modes throughout these. Each and every one of the illustrations was its own challenge to crack, planned out with great direction from @neon_juan. 29 Sep 2026

Stickers galore! @reallygoodemails always lets me go wild with the designs for Unspam, and this year was no exception. We ended up with an eclectic mix, including new versions of my Smiles mascot, retro futurism, and a few occult oddballs. 27 Aug 2026

Better late than never! Earlier this year I had the privilege to do a bunch of fun design work for @reallygoodemails and their Unspam email marketing event. With the 80s tech company throwback logo, I couldn't resist making it into an animated version. 20 Aug 2026

Just got back from a trip to the Pacific Northwest, where we've been considering relocating. Almost forty years in Phoenix have soured me on the heat, the sprawl, and the traffic, but the prospect of uprooting our family to a relative unknown is intimidating! 22 Jun 2026
