Reminder as we round out the night: It may take longer to count every vote and verify the results of this year’s elections — and that’s 100% normal.
Many states are not legally allowed to start processing or counting vote-by-mail ballots until Election Day. Election officials are working hard to make sure all of our voices are heard across the country.
Let’s be patient while they count every vote! 🙏🏽🗳️

Don’t let anyone tell you that your vote doesn’t matter! It’s almost Election Day, and in most states, you can vote early right now.
Make your plan to vote today at WhenWeAllVote.org. Better yet, make voting a celebration at one of the thousands of Party at the Polls events across the country with @WhenWeAllVote.

Spread the word! 🔁🤎 Community is an antidote to fear. With voting rights under attack and calls to send ICE to polling places, this election can feel overwhelming. We don’t have to face it alone.
Roughly 80,000 elections this November will help shape decisions about healthcare, the cost of living, and our communities.
That’s why we’re partnering with @whenweallvote for Party at the Polls: food, music, and over 3,000 community celebrations nationwide during early voting and on Election Day.
Check on your people! Make a plan. Bring a friend.
Find a celebration or sign up to host at whenweallvote.org/party. Let’s show up for each other.

On this day in 1989, L. Douglas Wilder became the first Black governor, representing Virginia.
37 years later, a record-breaking six Black governors will serve at the same time. Thank you to L. Douglas Wilder for breaking down this barrier.
History is happening right in front of us, y’all — and it’s because voters like YOU showed up to make your voices heard. Let’s keep going. 🙌🏾

If you ever questioned whether or not your vote matters, let’s talk about what’s happening with Mississippi’s Senate race.
Mississippi voters: If you voted with an affidavit ballot for any reason, bring your ID to a local Circuit Clerk’s Office by Tuesday, November 10 at 5pm to cure, or “fix,” your ballot. If you have any questions, call the Election Protection Hotline @866ourvote!

Record-breakers. History-makers. Georgia showed OUT! 👏🏿
Shoutout to the eight Black women Georgia voters elected to represent their state in this year’s midterm elections. These leaders will make key decisions that impact millions of people in Georgia, from the cost of living and voting rights to education and criminal justice reform.

On this day in 1968, Shirley Chisolm became the first Black woman elected to serve in U.S. Congress. 58 years later, Black women are STILL making history in Congress. 🙌🏾
In 2027, 28 Black women will serve in the U.S. House of Representatives: Alma Adams, Darializa Avila Chevalier, Joyce Beatty, Shontel Brown, Janelle Bynum, Dr. Jasmine Clark, Yvette Clarke, Valerie Foushee, Jahana Hayes, Sydney Kamlager, Melat Kiros, Summer Lee, Lucy McBath, LaMonica McIver, Jennifer McClellan, Analilia Mejia, Donna Miller, Gwen Moore, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, Terri Sewell, Lateefah Simon, Marilyn Strickland, Emilia Sykes, Lauren Underwood, Maxine Waters, Nikema Williams, and LaKesha Womack.
And for the first time in history, three Black women will serve in the U.S. Senate at the same time — Juliana Stratton of Illinois will join Angela Alsobrooks of Maryland and Lisa Blunt Rochester of Delaware.
Thank you to Shirley Chisolm for breaking down barriers that would allow 69 more Black women to be elected to serve in Congress to date.
As we celebrate Rep. Chisolm’s legacy today, we also recognize the work that still needs to be done to ensure all of us are represented in our democracy. As she famously said: “If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.” 💜 🪑

Let’s talk about what *really* happened in this election. (And you already know we brought receipts. 👀🧾🗳️)
Lawmakers across the country have fought to redistrict our congressional maps over the last two years — especially in the South. But the gag is, every unfair map and every attempt to silence voters only pushed us harder to show up and show OUT at the polls.
More than 34 million Americans had a new congressional district this year, and more than 124 million votes have already been counted in this general election.
As election officials continue to count every vote, take this as a reminder that the power of the people is ALWAYS greater than the people in power. The fight continues.

BALLOT MEASURE RESULTS: With a NO vote on Proposition 39, California voters rejected a voter suppression constitutional amendment that would have created new, restrictive voter ID rules for all elections across the state. More than 1.4 million votes decided the outcome of this ballot measure.

Democracy starts with us, and y’all proved it in this election. 🗳️
THANK YOU to every single voter who pulled up to the polls this year! Millions of you across the country made your voices heard, whether you stood in line for hours yesterday or made a commitment to vote early.
You brought the energy to the ballot box, and THAT is what democracy looks like!

BALLOT MEASURE RESULTS: With a YES vote on Question 3, Virginia voters amended the state constitution to expand voting rights.
Up until now, only the governor could restore voting rights for formerly incarcerated people. Now, every returning citizen can exercise their fundamental right to vote. 🙌🏽
