City officials are cracking down on a nighttime taco stand that has been popping up — with plenty of online buzz — on sidewalks at major intersections around the region for the past month.
This past week, the stand, Tacos Los Primos, was on the sidewalk at Manchester Road and South Brentwood Boulevard in front of the Brentwood Schnucks’ parking lot.
The tent cooks and sells tacos, burritos and quesadillas. It has no sign, no menu and only accepts cash and Zelle mobile payments. But it draws a line of customers nightly, some who say they found the business through social media, and others who say they saw the tent while driving past.

In August, 10-year-old Yeva Kapusterynska's family sent a letter to President Donald Trump.
The Ukrainian refugee had been badly injured by a drunken driver in December 2023, a few months after she and her parents, Inna Kapusterynska and Yevgeniy Kapusterynsky, arrived in the United States under a special visa program for those fleeing the war in their homeland.
Now in a wheelchair and undergoing rehabilitation therapy, Yeva faces the loss of Medicaid. Congress' One Big Beautiful Bill made her family and many other legal immigrants ineligible for the medical insurance program.
In the letter to Trump, Yeva's family asked that she and other immigrants injured in criminal incidents retain access to Medicaid. Yeva does not want the accident to define her American experience, they wrote. American doctors and nurses saved her life. An American family opened its home. An American church gave them a place to live.
"That is the America I know," says the letter, signed by Yeva. "I have already overcome things that once seemed impossible, and I am not ready to stop fighting now because my medical coverage disappears while my immigration case is still waiting for a decision."
Then, last month, Yeva's parents' work permits expired. Inna Kapusterynska had reapplied for them at the beginning of June. All they ever heard back was that the application was being processed.
It is a stark shift for a family that three years ago felt welcomed by the United States — hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians had moved here under a special immigration program as their home country grappled to survive a relentless Russian invasion.
Now, they are desperate, raising money online, unable to work, without medical coverage and tethered to doctors and therapists in St. Louis they need to help a daughter severely injured by a driver in America.
