One of the most enigmatic and seminal names in Portuguese experimental music, author of the landmark album ‘Plux Quba’ (1988), he’s performing with Portuguese composer and producer Bruno Miguel Pinto, of :PAPERCUTZ’s fame, this October. Commissioned by Semibreve, ‘/Radiant Rift’ blends fragile ambient textures, acoustic resonance, electronics, piano and voice in a performance that also features visuals created by Canavarro himself. A 34.ª edição do 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗮𝘀 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗮 𝗱𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲 – 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲 𝗖𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗮 abre com uma criação inédita que cruza cinema, música e performance ao vivo a partir da obra de 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗗𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗰. Este cineconcerto reúne os 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗕𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗼 𝗠𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗲 𝗡𝘂𝗻𝗼 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗼 numa nova interpretação do universo visual da realizadora francesa, revisitando obras como 𝘛𝘩𝘦̀𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘦𝘵 𝘝𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 (1928), 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘲𝘶𝘦 957 (1928) e 𝘓𝘢 𝘊𝘰𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘦 𝘦𝘵 𝘭𝘦 𝘊𝘭𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘺𝘮𝘢𝘯 (1927), frequentemente considerada uma das primeiras experiências surrealistas da história do cinema. Partindo do conceito de “cinema puro” explorado por Dulac — onde movimento, ritmo e sensação se sobrepõem à narrativa convencional —, a performance estabelece um diálogo entre materiais históricos e uma abordagem sonora contemporânea. [𝗘𝗡] The 𝟯𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗮𝘀 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗮 𝗱𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲 – 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗺 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 opens with a new creation that brings together cinema, music and live performance through the work of 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗗𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗰. This film-concert reunite the 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗕𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗼 𝗠𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝘂𝗻𝗼 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗼 in a new interpretation of Dulac’s visual universe, revisiting works such as 𝘛𝘩𝘦̀𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘦𝘵 𝘝𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 (1928), 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘲𝘶𝘦 957 (1928) and 𝘓𝘢 𝘊𝘰𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘦 𝘦𝘵 𝘭𝘦 𝘊𝘭𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘺𝘮𝘢𝘯 (1927), often regarded as one of the earliest surrealist films in cinema history. Inspired by Dulac’s concept of “pure cinema” — where movement, rhythm and sensation take precedence over conventional storytelling — the performance creates a dialogue between historical film materials and a contemporary sonic approach.
