I do think Dulles would have wanted the government of Guatemala toppled even without the United Fruit Company connection, but that says more about his willingness to topple democratically elected governments than the amount his connections to United Fruit did or didn’t influence him.

Obviously, I joke about this in the video, but I just can’t imagine how vile you have to be to sue your own patients after they’ve suffered pregnancy loss late in their pregnancies. I think most people outside of Kansas had no idea who he was before the article about his treatment of his patients was released in September. I’m hopeful that soon we can all go back to not knowing who he is again.

I make a joke about this in the video, but the opioid stuff really is shocking. Obviously the opioid crisis is not solely the work of any one person and if it were, it wouldn’t be a relatively anonymous congressman from Michigan, but I don’t think it can be exaggerated just how much Rogers was doing exactly what the opioid producers wanted him to. Hopefully he loses his election and we don’t have to find out what new harmful industry he wants to be puppeteer-ed by.

What is the point of a Susan Collins? I know there a lot of voters out there who enjoy the idea of having a “moderate” representing them, but Collins doesn’t usually achieve any of her moderate goals. She just votes like any other Republican and with a Republican president that means that Republican policies get enacted. And with a Republican president this radical, that means radical policies get enacted. Also the corruption stuff is really bad.

I said in the caption for my last Paxton video that if any Republican could lose this race, it would be him, and he does seem to be putting up a good (bad) fight.
Paxton feels like a politician you’d read about from before mass media where individual connections (and often corruption) mattered at least as much as charisma. He’s notably a bad public speaker, poor debater, and from everything I can find, unpleasant to be around. This not even taking into account his many crimes and ethical lapses. I didn’t cover them all in this one, but frankly it’d get too repetitive if I tried.

Vivek’s ad is so terrible, and the doubling down on it has been even worse. I would say it’s what I would do if I were trying to lose the election, but it’s actually beyond that. It’s what I’d do if I were trying to lose the election and the respect of anyone who has ever cared about me.

Truman spelled his name both as “Harry S Truman” and “Harry S. Truman” since his middle initial didn’t stand for anything. That’s nice because you can never be wrong, although it’s a real shame for pedantic nerds like me who would like to correct people.

Supposedly a lot of the worst things said about Benedict were written by political opponents/exaggerated by people writing long after his death. That seems plausible to me, but I will say, he for sure did keep going back and forth on whether he wanted to be pope in a violent way and he does seem to have sold the papacy, which I disapprove of.

I don’t think there’s any evidence to suggest that Prabowo was aware that his party was bribing election officials, but it is very funny to find out that someone was cheating—it was just the side that lost ovewhelmingly.
