Hey, it’s Zach, one of the original founders of Love Your Melon. Over ten years ago, my classmates and I started LYM with a simple mission: to give a beanie to every child battling cancer in America. We accomplished that and donated almost $10 million to fight pediatric cancer. When the brand sold a few years ago, I missed it a lot. Now, almost 4 years later, with my family by my side, I’ve bought Love Your Melon back. And together, we’re relaunching LYM. Love Your Melon is going back to its roots and core mission while building for the future. Our Buy One, Give One program is back. For every beanie you purchase, we’ll donate another to a child battling cancer. LYM is more than just hats – it’s a message of hope and comfort, a reminder to kids that they’re not alone. Since our first hospital visit, we’ve seen the need to give beanies to others beyond children battling cancer. Kids fighting other life-threatening illnesses and injuries. Siblings, parents, and caregivers facing the same difficult moments. There are roughly 40,000 children battling cancer in the U.S. at any time and 15,000 new diagnoses every year. Over 500,000 kids face life-threatening conditions, alongside the families supporting them. When we give, we don’t leave anyone in need out. Our goal is to create smiles and provide comfort to every child in the U.S. battling cancer or life-threatening conditions who need us. By year’s end, we hope to exceed 100,000 hats donated. In July, Wrenley joyfully welcomed her baby brother, and just one month later, she was diagnosed with B-cell ALL. Everything happened so quickly, but she has faced this unexpected journey with such grace and wonder. We thank God for our wonderful medical team, our loving family and friends, and gracious organizations like Love Your Melon, who have supported us along the way. Wrenley’s fight against leukemia would be incredibly difficult to face alone, and we are so grateful to have countless people in her corner, many of whom we have never even met.
