The freedom to read only matters if there's a library to read in. Open doors. Full shelves. Librarians who help every reader find what they need. That's what keeps access real across all 37 @sdpubliclibrary branches, and it depends on a community that speaks up for it. Banned Books Week ends tomorrow. Advocating for our San Diego Public Libraries doesn't. πŸ‘‰ Take action at the link in our bio #BannedBooksWeek #LetBooksBe #SDPL #LibraryFoundationSD 09 Oct 2026 πŸ“š Due to the FY β€˜27 budget cuts, starting this Saturday, August 29, hours are changing for three @sdpubliclibrary branches. πŸ•“ Locations with new Saturday hours, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.: San Diego Central Library @ Joan Ξ› Irwin Jacobs Common Point Loma/Hervey Library Rancho Bernardo Library πŸ•“ All other branches will continue with regular Saturday hours, and the hours at 15 branch locations open on Mondays will remain unchanged. πŸ›οΈ Library Shop at Central's Saturday hours are shifting too, now 10:30 a.m.–4 p.m. Good news: Library Shop Mission Hills is open daily, including Sundays, with 100% of proceeds supporting free San Diego Public Library programs across all 37 branches. 🚧 Starting Sept. 1: Ocean Beach Library and Rancho PeΓ±asquitos Library close for renovations. 🚧 Currently closed for maintenance: Clairemont Library + San Ysidro Library. Name a better love triangle. πŸ“š Thank you to @sdgullsahl and the San Diego Gulls Foundation for naming the @sdpubliclibrary and Library Foundation SD the Community Spotlight at the very first Novel Night Out, the Gulls’ hockey romance book night. Between the Community Spotlight gift and Gulls-themed button sales, the San Diego Gulls Foundation is donating $1,664 to Library Foundation SD in support of San Diego Public Library. ❀️ Thanks to every fan who stopped by for library swag, a new library card, and a few minutes of hockey talk. 05 Nov 2026 Manifesting more residencies with purpose. As much as I love DJing a good party, there’s something special about providing music for spaces that bring people together with intention. I’m happy to share my new 3-month residency with CreativeMornings! A community that brings creatives, entrepreneurs, and small business owners together to learn, connect, and grow. Grateful for the opportunity to bring the vibes to a space that aligns with so much of what I love doing. Thank you CM Team. πŸ™ Catch me on the patio with our creative community, sharing conversations, making connections, and eating donuts. Next dates: November 20 & December 18 2026 See you there! πŸ“Έ @infulldetail #CreativeMorningsSD #SanDiegoCreatives #SanDiegoDJ Dj with @paidinfullcreativestudio 04 Nov 2026 Family literacy looks different for every household. 🏑 πŸ‘Ά For some, it’s a first library card for a newborn through My First Library Card. πŸ“– For others, it’s a parent learning to read through @sdplread or Families for Literacy. ✏️ Or a student getting free help through Do Your Homework @ the Library. These @sdpubliclibrary programs are all supported by Library Foundation SD. πŸ’› This week, we hope take the time to grab a book, pick a cozy spot, and read together. πŸ›‹οΈ πŸ“Έ @chriswojdak 04 Nov 2026 Here’s your sign to dust off that library card and save some money πŸ’ΈπŸ“š Seriously, public libraries offer SO many free resources that people are sleeping on! Gosh, what are you waiting for? 31 Oct 2026 Friends! Join us this Sat, Oct 31st at 10:30am for short films, Q&A w/ participating filmmakers and a celebration of our latest Workforce Development Initiative graduates. This film showcase will spotlight our emerging filmmakers’ videos about the different communities in San Diego. From vertical short form content for social media, to powerful documentary style testimonials, these videos portray the importance of our small businesses, our artists, activists, students, and the individuals who keep the world turning. These videos were produced throughout a six week training, as part of the Workforce Development Initiative. The Workforce Development Initiative is a program for young creatives and filmmakers to embark in the professional field in filmmaking and content creation. The program includes a paid internship with the City of San Diego at the San Diego Public Libraries and a paid training facilitated by our Media Arts Center San Diego teaching artists. Funded by Library Foundation SD, City of San Diego, The Prebys Foundation, U.S. Bank, & #TacoBellFoundation.
