Careerwise, this year has been a stand out year for me. Taking a second to look back on some of the best work I’ve done in 2026 because, not only have I worked with some of the best editors in the business this year, but I’ve learnt so much from them too. While my book has deservedly taken centre stage, my work as a journalist has been pootling along nicely in the background. I’ve also added some new titles to my bylines, interviewed my first cover star and delved deep into s*x subcultures. Summer recap: Author edition Beyond Belief began in earnest in the spring of 2023, so it’s quite the thing to sit here in the summer of 2026 and try and condense the entirety of this into a highlight reel. There were plenty of lows, trust me. The publishing world is brutal, unpredictable and fickle. But thanks to some incredible people, namely my angel agent @abirfellows, my editor @marleighmoo (who I cannot thank enough for taking a chance on me. Your leap of faith is something I’m still in awe of!), @shahedezaydi for being an incredible friend to me when I wobbled with doubt and insecurity, my hot girl writers @bethashleywriter and @charlott_e_am who without I would have never even had the gall to finish my proposal. There’s my Mum, who was more than just a cheerleader, but helped me tremendously through leaner months as I balanced chronic ill health, freelancing and writing. My husband (!!) @peteagram_ who never faltered or wavered in his support, which I will forever be grateful for. Because of you, a working class queer girl from rural north Wales navigated a obtuse and nepotistic industry. Then to the editors who kindly included me in their feminist book round ups, published chapters of my book and commissioned me to write about the main themes of my book; the link between credibility and gender discrimination. @samdamshenas @lucyalexxandra @rachelvthompson_ especially, thank you. There is every expert, every source, every professor and every friend I spoke tirelessly with. Every bookshop, (@waterstonesbristol @bookcellarbristol - you folks have been so unbelievably supportive!) What is left is an interconnected tapestry of people who made this happen with me. What I hope any new authors, aspiring writers or curious scribblers see from this post is that it takes a village. It takes work, and so much luck to get to publication. Then it doesn’t just stop there. I am so grateful, yes. But I am also so proud of what Beyond Belief is, which is a challenge to everything we’ve ever been taught about women’s words. That credibility and gender are interwoven intentionally as part of a subjugated experience. Long live gossip. May we all continue to talk! 01 Sep 2026

Author life lately ✨ Celebrating Beyond Belief at the V&A alongside all of Harper Collins’ authors and their own brilliant works. Getting to spend a whole evening with my editor and friend @marleighmoo while creeping around the schiaparelli exhibition mouth agape at the beauty and craftsmanship. Seeing Beyond Belief on the shelves @aesop’s queer library showcase in Soho and watching people pick her as their one free book. Very surreal, very amazing. Listening to the panel discussion was also eye opening and I’m currently devouring The Log Books. Spotted in Paris twice on the same day next to my fellow debut-ee @shahedezaydi. Nothing quite describes seeing your work in the middle of the greats like Laura Bates and Silvia Federici. And more to come!
