Project Maheya by @asimazhar @aaryansadruddin @rovalio_ for @coke_studio Nu.WAV Working with @kamalkay has always been a pinch-me experience. The sheer creativity, imagination and magic that comes out of our collaborations is beautifully overwhelming, and deeply humbling. But this one felt particularly special. I’ve always been a HUGE admirer of Tim Burton, Mary Shelley and the world of 1950s cinema. So when @kamalkay came up with the idea of a 1950s Lollywood story about an actor struggling under the weight of his overbearing father, my mind immediately wandered to Frankenstein. The idea of an actor being pieced together, much like Frankenstein’s monster, assembled from the characters he plays, with a clockwork heart at the centre of it all. A world where cinema, identity and imagination collide. Never in a million years did I imagine I would get to create something like this in Pakistan. From an actual working clockwork heart to fantastical electric silos, from blending Shahjahani arches with the sensibilities of Art Deco architecture, every little detail of this world was a labour of love. I’m endlessly grateful for the possibilities the universe opens up, and more importantly, for the extraordinary people it brings into our lives. To @aqeelurrrehman @ayanbadar_0 Amrose and my entire team at @hashimalidesignstudios, who work tirelessly to turn the wildest ideas into something tangible, you guys are the truest form of magic. And @aamir_mughall, only YOU could have done justice to this world, and the many worlds within this one song. Truly a master of your craft! @farazsheikhofficial_ and his team went to the utmost details to understand the time and era and the aesthetics of this world we were creating. And what can I say about the 6 hours of SFX on asim azher to turn him into the creature . @bloody_artistry 👑 Some projects remind you why you fell in love with creating in the first place.
