Por eso, para la ceremonia de premiación de los Premios MexBest 2026, tuvimos el gusto de contar con la chef Gabriela Cámara, de Contramar, a cargo de una cena que nos dejó a todos con un gran sabor de boca. How do you translate a national favorite to a new country? It’s a tricky proposition. @contramarmx has been famous as one of the most celebrated restaurants in Mexico since chef and owner @gabrielacamara opened it in 1998 in the capital city. With its fan-favorite tuna tostadas and signature red and green grilled fish, the seafood restaurant revolutionized the Mexican dining scene, where at the time, restaurants were typically either high-end or very casual. Now, nearly 30 years later, having become a bona fide international culinary star, Cámara has decided to bring the seaside vibes to a new city: Las Vegas. Cantina Contramar is the rare restaurant project to be helmed by three women: Cámara, co-founder and CEO of tequila brand Casa Dragones @berthagonzalezn, and the influential architect @fridaescobedo. But for Cámara, it isn’t unusual. “Women have always cooked in Mexico, so it isn’t an anomaly,” she explains. She was pleased to find a similar dynamic in Las Vegas: “I was very pleasantly surprised at how many wonderful and powerful women run the shows there.
