I’m usually in a state of panic when posting work to my grid. Preparing with thirst-trap-mentality -the act of posting, a lusting for MORE MORE MORE, work, likes, followers, some validation-preferably with a day rate attached to it. So I often don’t make space to write about or even reflect on the project, at least not in a constructive way (usually I just resort to self flagellation). But when angel @kristianyoung came to me with this project, my heart filled up. Not only because I’ve had the pleasure of seeing first hand his rise from energetic and inspired-post-grad-self-shooter, all the way to behemoth director - through hard work, positivity, zen, laughter, fairness and great sense of smelling bullshit (usually mine)… not just because our relationship lays honestly and beautifully outside the industry, as well as entwined within it. not only because our differentiating styles of portfolio often mean there’s not a stylistic connect for us to work together- Kristian has always been open with me about this, it’s such a kind thing to do as a person- and a kind conversation for a director to have with a dp. Kristian came to me with this project because he knew of my adoration of club culture and all things 90s and 00s. Kristian and I both love music in the same way and he made it clear that he thought I could help him push the story forward, he trusted me without hesitation and I want to thank him for that. Like many 38 year olds @groovearmada soundtracked my childhood, through the iconic adverts of the 90s/00s @ministryofsound CD’s before becoming a mainstay on playlists I compiled for parties. These days I listen to them every sunrise when I skate clissold bowl- there’s nothing that makes you feel free more than golden sunlight tearing through the horizon and ‘I see you baby’ pelting out from my speaker as I rip through and often smash into concrete transition. Their track DONT GIVE UP instilled a sense of hope and something to dream of in an isolated 2020- so it was a real trip to be working with Tom and Andy on this project. A surreal @moschino spec and such a lovely one to shoot. Massive respect to @kiers for driving such an ambitious idea, especially with the scale of the green screen and post on a tiny budget. We had been driving around looking for somewhere high enough to see the town properly. The sun was dropping fast, everyone was hot, tired, slightly frantic, and then we found this place. Big life update! I've come to the end of a wonderful 2 and a bit years working with such incredible people at Emmyland. I'm so grateful to have been involved with so much, especially with the work we did for BSC Expo this and last year. For the first time, I'll be out here on my own - ready to take on new side quests with a big adventure planned at the end of year. Until then, I'll be free for any camera assisting, fun little DP projects or any graphic design shenanigans. 01 May 2026

wowowow 2+ years at emmyland?! i feel like when i arrived i barely knew my LBUS from my RBQRP!!* the amount i’ve learnt and grown both on set and off during my time as a kitroom tech truly makes my head hurt. i’m so endlessly grateful to have been able to share this space with the emmyland team and also the incredible creatives who help make emmyland such a unique kit house. now it’s time for me to get out on set without the comfort of the delivery van. hmu for all your loading needs, ya girl is freelance (again)!! *exaggeration for effect 07 Apr 2026
