@matthieu_blazy has stirred up quite the fashion frenzy. The French-Belgian designer came to @chanelofficial from Bottega Veneta in 2025, and unleashed a revamp of the house’s codes that took the fashion set by storm. His cruise 2026 show in Biarritz back in April, like his Métiers d’art event staged last December, was a breakout moment during a year of endless creative director musical chairs. In Blazy’s view, the storied house is meant to design for “many, many different women, at many different times of their days or their lives—where age is not the limit,” he tells ELLE. “It’s the most fundamental pillar of Chanel.” For ELLE’s November issue, @chantel_tattoli sits down with Blazy to talk about reinventing Chanel’s house codes, the cruise 2027 collection he showed in Biarritz (seen here on model @mona_tougaard), and his vision for years to come. As Jules in ‘Euphoria,’ she played lifeline to @zendaya’s Rue; as teenager Gretchen in the movie ‘Cuckoo,’ she took on her first full-on body-horror role; and as assistant Hilda in ‘Mother Mary,’ she was caught between the drama of two complicated mega-divas. Now, as she prepares for her first TV role as a lead in @primevideo’s ‘Blade Runner 2099,’ she’s also had a great time playing a totally different role: herself. With her 28th birthday later this year and some major personal developments in her rearview, Schafer finds herself reflecting on her early 20s—even as she looks ahead to what she calls her “new life”: “[I’m] okay with riding this very strange, sometimes terrifying, and a lot of the time really delicious wave. Being down for the ride and not trying to push back against it, or self-sabotage.” For ELLE’s November 2026 cover story, Schafer opens up about ‘Blade Runner 2099,’ queerness, and a personal life update that, up until now, only her closest family and friends knew about. Their alabaster-white painted faces and exaggerated lips evoked Leigh Bowery, the Australian performance artist known for his audacious club looks. Much like McQueen upended fashion with his confrontational approach to design, Club Kids—a name given to the scene’s most flamboyant clubgoers, Bowery included—did the same in cities like New York and London. The scene was rife with larger-than-life, sometimes debaucherous personalities expressing themselves through equally outsized clothes; no look was too outlandish, no party too wild. “For me, the club spirit isn’t one particular look,” says nightlife impresario Susanne Bartsch (@bartschland), whose legendary ‘80s parties at Savage and the Copacabana pioneered the inextricable connection between nightlife and fashion. ”It’s freedom, imagination and the confidence to express yourself without asking permission.” That Club Kid spirit still reverberates in the underground scenes of New York, London, and beyond—and at the highest levels of fashion. Look no further than the recent spring/summer 2027 season, when many designers celebrated the “joy of getting dressed” and where the club was never too far away. At the link in bio, @matt.velasco unpacks how the underground scene’s DIY, gender-bending style still shapes how we get dressed today. 06 Nov 2026 @oliviarodrigo is getting into the holiday spirit early with the arrival of her first official festive single, “Take Me Home (4 Christmas).” In one of the great holiday songwriting traditions, the track sees the pop star celebrating both the holiday and the joy she gets from having the right person by her side to enjoy the festivities, capturing what Rodrigo calls “the excitement and nerves of spending the holidays with someone you love.” More than that, it comes with an extra gift: a Christmas-themed video starring #SexandtheCity legend @cynthiaenixon and @nbcsnl cast member @benmarshallstyle. Classic holiday activities ensue, and the festivities get so wild that—well, we won’t be a Grinch by spoiling it for you. Martine Rose, the British-Jamaican designer who served as a menswear consultant under @demna at the brand, is officially taking over the post following @pppiccioli’s departure. While Rose might be a new face to the mainstream, she’s something of an industry darling among those in the know, thanks to her namesake label @martine_rose. More than a cult designer, her clothes have found fans in @badgalriri, @tchalamet, @haileybieber, and more. Her appointment at Balenciaga brings her back to the house and is also history-making: She is the first woman to lead the brand creatively. “It is a true privilege to be appointed Creative Director of Balenciaga, a House with an extraordinary heritage and a fearless creative spirit,” Rose said in a statement. “Balenciaga has been shaped by remarkable creative talents before me. I am committed to honoring this legacy and look forward to creating the next chapter in this rich and beautiful story.” Read the full story at the link in bio. 06 Nov 2026 After scrapping its planned John Galliano exhibition, the 2027 Met Gala officially has a new theme. Titled “Extraordinary: Fashion and the Poetics of the Everyday,” the show turns its attention to the clothes and materials we might otherwise overlook and what designers can make of them. It’s a marked shift from the theatrical world of John Galliano’s designs and could mean that we see jeans and (gasp!) T-shirts in droves during the biggest night in fashion. Head to the link in bio for everything we know about the theme and exhibition. 05 Nov 2026 Pierpaolo Piccioli (@pppiccioli) is stepping down as creative director of @balenciaga after just one year at the helm. The news, announced today by parent company Kering, brings his brief tenure at the house to a close. “We are deeply grateful for Pierpaolo’s contribution to Balenciaga,” CEO Gianfranco Gianangeli said in a statement. “Through his vision, he reaffirmed the couture origins of the house, bringing his considered approach to craftsmanship, construction, and creativity.” Piccioli joined the house in July 2025 after a transformative 25-year tenure at @maisonvalentino. Piccioli’s vision for the Spanish house focused more on a romantic, craft-minded approach—a departure from @demna’s streetwear-inflected aesthetic. As he had at Valentino, the designer bridged the past and present to imagine something softer and more personal for the house. These included victories for women, like Keisha Lance Bottoms, who will be the country’s first Black woman governor, or Gina Hinojosa, who will be the first Latina governor of Texas after a massive upset. Here, we take a look at the candidates celebrating major firsts. 04 Nov 2026
