UPDATED - my most popular post - updated for 2026 💫 Comment VETBILLS for a link to my ever-expanding list of organizations who help cover pet care expenses - complete with URLs for every org included above. 💫 👩🏻‍⚕️ As a dog mom and a veterinarian, I get it, you would do anything for your pets health but as we know, the finances of medicine can be so stressful and all consuming. Vets have the same goal - to be able to treat your pet. Thankfully, there are many organizations that can help but I don’t think many people know enough about. I’m listing the ones I’ve vetted (pun intended) below. Please share any you know or any experience with these. 🌎 You must live in the U.S. to be eligible for these organizations and they are typically for those with financial constraints. This is by no means an extensive list. There are often state specifics organizations that can help as well. 🐶 I’d also like to add that many of these organizations are non-profits who accept donations, if you’re looking for a good cause to support. Everyone here would be grateful if you have any additional organizations to share! Let us know below so everyone can see. #petinsurance #petlovers #vethelp #petparents #dogparents 18 May 2026 🚨 How To Save A Dog From Choking On A Ball In this viral video, Dr Margaret Hunt and her incredible team saves the life of a german shepherd who choked on a ball. How Dr. Hunt un-lodges the ball from the dog’s throat is called the external extraction technique and is something that all pet parents should know how to do. Trying to pull the ball from the throat is often unsuccessful due to suction created from the ball, this technique is critical. So make sure to SAVE this reel so you can come back to it if needed (knock wood) and SHARE with people who love their pets. Steps To Do This At Home: 🐶 1. Flip the pet onto their back 2. Straddle them 3. Put your hands in a V/Diamond shape with both thumbs touching behind the ball in the throat 4. Then push up and outwards with your thumbs in a J stroke from behind the ball until the ball is extracted from the mouth. As soon as the ball is out, provide two rescue breaths and if the dog does not respond, begin CPR. I hope you never have to use this technique and remember that supervised playing is one of the best ways to avoid these incidences. However, for when accidents do happen, you’ll now know what to do. Has your dog ever had a choking incident or eaten something they shouldn’t have? 16 Aug 2025 Important info in caption ⬇️⬇️⬇️ . . . This triage chart is by no means complete, but it covers some of the most common things I’ve seen during my years as a vet. Remember, no vet is going to judge you for being too careful about your pet’s health. If you’re worried your pet needs emergency care, we’d much rather you bring them in and find out they’re fine, than wait and miss out on crucial early treatment time for an emergency condition. Let me know if you have any questions! #emergencyvetvisit #petemergency #vetmed #petparents #vettriage #pethealth 16 Apr 2025 First patient I’ve seen that actually looks better after every wash. Every house has a best seat. In ours, my dog called dibs long before the baby showed up, and he is not giving it up. Now they share the couch, along with every snack, spit up and muddy paw print in between. Being able to throw the covers in the wash is the only reason I’m not stressed about it. Who has dibs on the best seat in your house? @lovesac #LovesacPartner 06 Nov 2026 I know what it sounds like when someone would give anything for one more afternoon with their dog. And I still need reminding not to rush through mine. 05 Nov 2026 The veterinarian-approved version of the viral veggie string 🥒🥕 Stay with your dog the whole time. Swallowed string is never worth the risk. Take it down as soon as the veggies are gone. Good veggies to try: cucumber, carrots, lettuce, snap peas Save this for a rainy day, and send it to a dog parent who needs a new boredom buster 🐶 03 Nov 2026 It’s not just estrogen, either. Testosterone gels can transfer the same way, and so can compounded hormone creams. And it can affect male and female pets, whether they’re spayed, neutered or not. Patches are often an easier option for homes with pets, since there’s no residue on your skin. That’s a conversation worth having with your doctor. Why it matters: long term exposure can lead to more serious health issues in pets, which is exactly why catching it early is so helpful. And it’s not just pets. Little kids can be affected by the same kind of contact. Have you ever heard of this before? Tell me below 👇 Save this for later and share it with a friend who needs it. 02 Nov 2026 It’s nowhere near dinner time buddy… 01 Nov 2026 #ad Same birthday. Very different retirement plans. 🎂 A 6-year-old Great Dane and a 6-year-old Chihuahua are not aging at the same speed. One’s already a senior. The other is just getting started. There’s no magic number 7. When a dog hits their senior years depends on their size, breed and expected lifespan, and the big guys get there first. And please don’t write everything off as “he’s just getting old.” Slower on the stairs, thinking twice before jumping on the couch, stiff after a nap. All worth a conversation with your veterinarian. Joints don’t wait for a gray muzzle either. I started my own dog on @antinolplus when he was 2, way before he showed any signs of slowing down, and I still recommend it for dogs who could use the extra joint support. Okay, be honest. Which dog did you guess was the senior? 👇 #AntinolPlusPawtner 29 Oct 2026 Comment “CHOCOLATE” for this free Halloween chocolate toxicity calendar 28 Oct 2026 Birthday trip to the Catskills Enjoy my one vacation pic because mom life… 23 Oct 2026 Comment CHOCOLATE and I’ll send you this free calculator. How dangerous chocolate is depends on three things: the type of chocolate, how much your dog ate, and how big your dog is. 22 Oct 2026
