【KOSS Public Lecture】“The Power of Identity: Harnessing Science, Political Will, and Community” by Dr. Demetre C. Daskalakis We are honoured and thrilled to welcome Dr. Demetre C. Daskalakis (Instagram: @drdemetre) for a public lecture on “The Power of Identity” on Nov. 16 (Mon) at Komaba Campus! ■ Event concept How do the specialized expertise of the hard sciences and community-based vernacular knowledge influence each other, come into conflict, or alternatively benefit one another? How are perspectives inseparable from scientists’ own identities involved there? What is required of experts in order to issue messages that go beyond the community while keeping a particular community in view, and to intervene in social institutions? For this lecture, we are delighted to welcome Dr. Demetre C. Daskalakis. Dr. Daskalakis served as Director of the Division of HIV Prevention at the U.S. CDC, and further as Director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases. He is currently Chief Medical Officer of Callen-Lorde Community Health Center, a healthcare provider for LGBTQ+ people in New York.
