The learning never stops. Coming around the corner of a big blue canvas on the day of the Eddie navigating my 10’2 @cisurfboards Such a special experience sharing a day like that together with my brothers and just a few friends in the water. Surfing big waves is such a primitive experience of self reflection, managing fear and excitement. Finding the moment of stillness inside and committing to the line. Memories I look forward to and carry with me as life rolls on down the road.
Thank you to @_danielrusso_ for looking out for us, the @northshorelifeguardassociation for always keeping the waters safe and to all the watermen and women who share in the collective energy of big days like this. Nothing but pure and simple gratitude! 🙌

It’s very rad to see my our new G3000 thruster fins with @true_ames go LIVE. Huge thanks to Chuck, Troy and the whole True Ames family for allowing my brothers and I the opportunity to collaborate on building a great all around fin for California fun, it’s everything we could have hoped for!!! Additionally, getting to work with our good friend @titus_anthony for some lifestyle and action shots for the campaign was epic, Titus is one of my favorites and I’m so stoked on how they came out. Stay tuned for a full length vid breaking down the ins and outs of what makes this fin tick dropping soon!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥 #G3000 🏁

Been such a crazy run of waves, Dane and I figured would be fun to take out the @gopro for a few laps. Always a rad perspective and dance getting the flow on these open October walls.

It was epic to see an old clip from 2016 pop up on my feed from the legend @tim_bonython_swellchasers , pretty wild to think how many big swells over so many years that he has documented. This swell in particular was interesting how it shaped my perspective of riding heavy waves. By 2016 I was fully obsessed with learning how to surf over South Pacific reefs, especially Cloudbreak. I had been there for the spectacular Thundercloud sessions of 2011 and 2012 during the Volcom event and it was obvious to me that every effort moving forward was going to be dedicated towards when we would get another day to ride the outer ledge. From 2011 to that wave in 2016, perspectives continued to evolve around board lengths and design concepts to add value in paddling in and holding a line through one of those super long and hollow walls. ( board pictured is an 8’6” from CI with beautiful quad fins from @drd4fins )Water safety as well, with the inflatable suits and impact vests. I don’t recall much about the exact swell numbers but I do remember it was meant to be windy, and what arrived was a very powerful, raw and unruly day of surfing. That morning, early, as our boat was getting to the lineup we arrived to watch Aaron Gold send it on a huge one, wipe out ultimately ending up unconscious. With an incredible rescue by @wolfofwailoaloa he brought Aaron to a nearby boat for CPR. The surfers on that boat were heros and their efficiency in working together to save Aaron’s life blew me away. It was probably around 10 in the morning by now, swell still pounding in and chunky but slabbing on the outside ledge. The crew of surfers that came for that swell were a great group of passionate watermen and women, freakishly obsessed with experiencing this wave. And you know that feeling, it resonates deep in your bones- to live it is to know it as they say. And I was scared shitless for that afternoon session, but after everything that unfolded, there was an overwhelming commradere in the crew that gave me the courage to stay in the moment, trust my instincts and let it fly… just an incredible crew of people to experience that day with from top to bottom. Forever grateful
