Over the past 12 years, we have presented six Chicago solo exhibitions and multiple group shows featuring his work. We are now proud to unveil Collin’s first comprehensive monograph ‘Wanderland: 1991-2026,’ a beautiful 180-page hardcover career retrospective spotlighting his achievements as a painter, muralist and graffiti writer. The first printing of ‘Wanderland: 1991-2026’ is strictly limited to 175 copies, including 30 Deluxe Edition copies signed by Collin and featuring an original watercolor drawing as well as a mini-print, both suitable for framing. The standard edition is priced at $85; the Deluxe Edition is priced at $275. ‘Wanderland: 1991-2026’ is available for pre-order now ahead of its official release on July 10, coinciding with the opening of Collin’s newest solo show, also titled Wanderland, presented by Vertical in partnership with Chicago’s Joy Machine Gallery. Books will begin shipping July 10, or by picking up in person at Joy Machine (4148 N. Elston Ave.) during the exhibition’s run from July 10 through Aug. 22. 25 Jun 2026

Collin van der Sluijs’ recent Vertical Gallery/Joy Machine solo exhibition ‘Wanderland’ featured a diverse assortment of paintings, drawings and skate decks created over the two years following the Maastricht, Netherlands-based artist’s previous Vertical showcase, 2024’s ‘Collision.’ Collin produced the densely intricate, 28 ¾ x 48 ⅜-inch “Promise” while convalescing from a broken ankle. “I always promised myself that someday I would spend a full month on a drawing, but of course, it never happened,” Collin (@collinvandersluijs) says. “Four weeks stuck in the studio with a brace on my left leg was the perfect opportunity, so I got some really good quality paper and started to work.” “Promise” weaves together themes and images from throughout Collin’s career, most notably his enduring affection for birds — a nod to childhood memories of his grandfather’s aviary. “When you have to sit down for a certain period of time, it’s natural to reflect on things,” Collin says. “I decided ‘Okay, let’s do the whole ride.’ There’s a little bit of graphic stuff, and a little bit of more traditional illustration. It was a big pleasure to do all that.
