If you've never cooked with chamoy, this recipe is a great introduction. Chamoy is made with fruit, citrus, and chiles, giving @claudetteazepeda's crispy orange chicken a sweet, sour, salty, and spicy flavor. Comment "orange" for the recipe! #f52community

I wrote a cookbook.
Which feels wild to say out loud. Even wilder to launch in this political climate.
But here we are. I am so proud of what I have accomplished and the team that helped me get here.
Cooking the Borderlands is officially up for pre-order đź’Ą
This book doesn’t look like most Mexican cookbooks, and that’s on purpose. No perfectly staged abuelita hands, no sepia-toned nostalgia cosplay. The images reflect the world in which I grew up in. As a child of immigrants, learning American culture through movies, TV dinners on trays, drama turned to 11, and food that lived somewhere between here and there.
This book is funny and serious.
It’s intellectual but a little unhinged.
It’s about borders, but mostly about what happens when they blur.
It’s for people who grew up translating language, culture, feelings.
It’s for people who learned how “American” worked by watching movies.
It’s for everyone who understands that food is never just food.
Pre-orders are live and are super important for authors.
Thank you for letting me tell this story my way. 🌽 🌮📚 I will even, at the risk of sounding needy. Ask for you to share with your friends and family. Maybe they’ll like it too. Kthxbye -xoxo Clau

Beyond Tacos & Tequila: Chefs Claudette Zepeda and Alfredo Villanueva explore how migration and cultural influences have shaped Mexico’s diverse culinary identity....
Mexican cuisine is far more diverse than many people realise, with centuries of migration and cultural exchange shaping the flavours, ingredients and traditions found across the country.
During the recent Tacos & Tequila Brunch, hosted by Chefs Claudette Zepeda and Alfredo Villanueva, the pair explored how immigration has influenced regional Mexican cuisine, from Asian and Middle Eastern traditions to the African diaspora.
"We are more than what people assume we are," shared Chef Claudette, highlighting the many cultures that have made Mexico home and transformed its culinary landscape.
"When you taste any of our food, it's really telling a story of immigration," she explained, noting that even what is considered traditional Mexican cuisine continues to evolve as people and cultures move across borders.
The chefs also showcased a selection of dishes reflecting this diversity, challenging familiar perceptions of Mexican food while celebrating the country's rich and ever-evolving culinary identity.

The one who risked everything to migrate north and immigrate into the states. Left with the kids to figure life out. She showed me the definition of composure in the face of adversity and the ability to take on life’s hardest moments with the right lip color and attitude.
Becoming a citizen at 80, because it was still important for her. From Hostotipaquillo Jalisco, to the world.

As a Mexican-American Indigenous woman, child of immigrants, I am proud of the work that is about to unfold.
