You do not have to be an immigration lawyer. You do not have to know everything. There’s also assignments for people not in law school. You can be useful right now. If you’ve been watching what is happening to immigrant children in this country and wondering what you can actually do, start here: @safepassageproject @supportkind @acaciajustice Fellow law students, do not underestimate what you can offer because you’re still learning. You know more today than you knew before law school. Folks not in law school, there’s also a need for observers, folks who can witness and document what happens in these proceedings. There are kids navigating proceedings that can determine whether they get to remain somewhere safe. The stakes are enormous, and more of us can be doing something. GET TF IN THE FIELD!!! 03 Oct 2026

I’m in law school in part to democratize what I’m learning for my folks, and one thing I’m learning is just how much data private companies collect and keep on us. The law is still wrestling with the tension between our digital lives, tech surveillance, and what actually counts as a Fourth Amendment “search.” And just because the government may need a warrant for some data doesn’t mean companies aren’t collecting it in the first place. So err on the side of caution: give these companies as little data about you as you reasonably can. If y’all find this useful, lemme know. I’ll keep sharing what I’m learning. 29 Sep 2026

I posted this photo a few months ago of me and three of my sisters confronting armed IDF soldiers in Hebron, Palestine and it made its way around the internet. To quote Dr. Carruthers “To be young(er). The courage, or lack of fear, or bravado, nerve or foolishness this took.” The pic traveled to a Palestinian woman in Brussels, who found me via a mutual of a friend. A few days ago we met on Zoom, with a friend translating, and she read a poem she’d written. One line roughly translated to: “Being seen by Black women is my lifeline.” I felt that so deeply. Being in community with Black women has saved me, held me and made life more possible in ways I probably don’t even have language for. I mean look at Tara, Aja and Charlene! They’re fighters and protectors. That’s who they are. May there be a Free Palestine in our lifetime. 09 Aug 2026
