Earth’s Greatest Enemy reveals the impact of the military on our planet’s life outside of the immediate, devastating impacts of war. These include massive emissions, pollution of local environments, and many negative effects on human health.
This clip of filmmaker Abby Martin was taken at a screening co-hosted by EarthPercent and @naturalists_for_palestine. We’ve been proud to bring this story to audiences of artists, naturalists and cultural professionals. As the massive emissions of military activity are currently exempt from global climate reporting, this is a crucial conversation to bring to the centre of climate and nature conversations.
To watch: go to earthsgreatestenemy.com or follow @naturalists_for_palestine and @fababs for announcements of local screenings.

Earth’s Greatest Enemy will change the way you see both the military and environmentalism.
Together with @naturalists_for_palestine, we were proud to host a screening of this hard-hitting but necessary documentary by Abby Martin (@fababs) to an audience of environmental and cultural professionals. These are some of their reactions ⬆️
Follow @naturalists_for_palestine and @fababs for more announcements of community screenings coming to a cinema near you.

Earth's Greatest Enemy is groundbreaking, demonstrating the human and planetary consequences of the US military - the world's largest - as well as offering hope. Military emissions are currently exempt from international climate agreements. Conversations about the consequences of war and military activity are on the fringes of environmental spaces, but we want to see them brought to the centre.

This is how it started for me filming with Elephants in Kenya in my 20’s for the BBC. I really felt I was doing good whilst also have a really good time. Now i see things differently. I was basically having a really good time. I feel so devastated by whats still happening in Palestine and how little i see the nature sector comment. This is a chance for us to add our voice and influence.

final installation tweaks done! PRIVATE VIEW OPENING tonight! At the @theboxplymouth . I produced this film which is a multi screen installation for the artist Mohini Chandra. It forms a part of a stunning new exhibition opening this weekend.
“The film highlights ‘patterns’ -the ideas and assumptions around the development and ‘civilisation’, of the natural world and its people. This work takes the idea of ‘exploration’ and scientific endeavour (the pursuit of knowledge) as a precursor and accessory to colonisation, exploitation and extraction. It imagines the sense of discovery and wonder at new landscapes, animals and people, just as it questions the desire to dominate and destroy”Mohini Chandra

My exhibition ‘Things Like That’, a photographic installation and film work, is the culmination of a research project I undertook in the Belfast Exposed Archive between 2023 and 2025 and is now open at Belfast Exposed Gallery, until 21st March.
Studying the collection of photographs and the history of the institution and of Belfast and Northern Ireland itself, I was struck by how the language of gesture crossed all boundaries and divides. Hands raised in triumph, pressed to the face in grief, wrapped around other bodies in consolation, pushing and shoving in conflict, are universal tropes. For the installation of photographs titled ‘Isolated Gestures’ I extracted fragments of the archival material featuring hands. Removed from their context, these gestures take on new meanings and become a powerful choreography of ambiguity.
For the film ‘Things Like That’ I developed a script based on an interview with Mervyn Smyth, one of the BX founders who had intimate first-hand knowledge of the material held therein. Far from being a neutral trove of facts, an archive is a slippery, unstable construct. It is shaped by power, subjectivity, and the perpetual tension between what is preserved and what is lost. Archives do not hold fixed truths; the materials are always vulnerable to misreading and transformation. It seemed to me that finding anything in the Belfast Exposed archive involved first-hand knowledge of the event and a bit of magic rather than logic. The film features an imaginary archivist, (who may also be a magician and a trickster) who becomes increasingly overwhelmed by the ‘system’ of retrieval. The multilayered sound track includes historical recordings of conflict in Belfast, recordings made on the streets of contemporary Belfast, birdsong and multiple sound effects recorded by me.

Ten years ago, we asked a simple question: What if waste could become a solution?
From a small idea in Lamu, Flipflopi has grown into a movement shaped by community, culture, and the ocean that connects us all.
Today, we’re launching Monsoon Rising; our next 10-year chapter.
This is about more than plastic. It’s about protecting marine life, sustaining coastal livelihoods, and working together across borders, from the Western Indian Ocean to the Middle East.
At its heart is Kubwa, a yet to be built 24 metre recycled plastic dhow that will sail ancient monsoon routes as a symbol of connection, learning, and collective action.
And because we believe in the importance of communities telling their own story, we’re launching a film school so our story is told by the people of Lamu, in their own voices.
