The space station is getting a new fly in 2026. 🪰🚀
NASA astronaut Anil Menon will embark on his first space mission as a member of Expedition 75 and will launch aboard the Roscosmos Soyuz MS-29 spacecraft in June 2026.

Suit up with NASA astronaut @astro_anil.
Johnson’s Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory in Houston provides astronauts an underwater atmosphere resembling zero gravity (weightlessness) to train for spacewalks.
For years, @nasaastronauts have performed spacewalks outside the @iss for maintenance and upgrades while wearing the Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU) spacesuit. The spacesuit can weigh anywhere from about 250-300 pounds on the ground.
Spacewalks are some of the most physically and mentally demanding tasks an astronaut can do, with each excursion typically six to eight hours in duration.

It was worth the wait 👩🏽🚀😍🙏🏽

A common axiom in spaceflight is to treat every launch, space walk, and opportunity like it may be your last. I arrived at the international space station expecting to do zero space walks and hoping for one. I've been fortunate to work with the teams across @nasa far more than expected. Yesterday, was a peak moment full of unexpected challenges, real-time solution, and mission success. I feel blessed and thankful for this opportunity to make space a better place for us all. Thanks to the entire team for making it safe, making it fun, and getting it done! It will be the highlight of my career to work with you!

7 down and 1 to go! Tune in for tomorrow’s spacewalk as we roll out the final solar array for station!

Our teams @NASA successful completed USOS EVA 100 yesterday. A roll out solar array was installed on station and this spacewalk marks over 25 years of operating in space and harnessing it sun to provide power for science, manufacturing, and operations. In the exciting decade to come, we are proud to pave the way for industry!

Today we suited up and sent out @astro_anil and @astro_kutryk on @iss EVA 100. 100 times we have ventured out of the Airlock to build, maintain, and upgrade the ISS. 100 times we have executed highly technical, highly complex, and highly challenging operations as an integrated team. And most importantly, 100 times we have brought our friends safely back inside. With today’s spacewalk, we open the hatch to the next 100- on ISS, on the surface of the Moon, and eventually, on Mars!

Canada arm 2 as seen from cupola. It’s been busy preparing for the upcoming spacewalks. It moved from this location to get the solar arrays from SpaceX Dragon 35 trunk, then placed it on a mobile transporter on station. It even loosened bolts for us before the space walks next week! I’m grateful for the help.

What’s going on in space? Everyone on station is preparing for upcoming spacewalks. They are happening next week. We will install new solar arrays. Space station can generate about 1 gigawatt hour of power per year. The team is rallying and everyone is part of this effort to get ready! (Minor cropping and editing of photos; originals @nasa)

Thanks to the arrival of @spacex 35 which is captured here approaching the Space Station we now are starting a busy season of science.
Some of that science arrived in cooled cargo and will return on dragon when it departs directly to the scientist doing that work. We are grateful to be the on-orbit hands of the scientists that are helping to pave the way to the Moon and Mars.
