Football has a platform. @sofiejungepedersen intends to use it. ⚽🌍
We are excited to welcome the Danish international footballer and climate activist to the Adapt2Win team.
Sofie believes athletes shouldn’t sit on the sidelines of the climate crisis. She’s spent years turning that belief into action, mobilizing fellow players, challenging football’s governing bodies, and pushing the sport to take greater responsibility for its impact on the planet.
In 2024, she was named The @guardian Footballer of the Year in recognition of her work on climate and human rights.
Now she’s bringing that same determination to Adapt2Win. As our climate changes, sport has a stake in what happens next, and athletes play a powerful role in making sure the world is ready to adapt.

What happens when climate change gets in the way of your Olympic dreams?
For swimmer Cheyenne Rova, cyclones and flooding have disrupted training, cancelled trials and forced her to swap the pool for the ocean. Despite these challenges, she went on to compete at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
Sport plays an important role in our physical and mental health. When extreme weather limits access to it, the impacts go beyond competition.
Ahead of #COP31, Cheyenne speaks to surfer and COP31 Youth Ocean Advocate @KalGlanznig about the challenges facing athletes in the Pacific Islands, and what she wants world leaders to do about them.

“Move from promises to action”
Pacific communities are not waiting for climate change to become a crisis. They are already living with its impacts and finding ways to adapt.
For Adapt2Win athlete Matelita Buadromo, Fijian Olympian and Vice Chair of the Oceania Athletes Commission, protecting the places and communities she grew up with is deeply personal.
Speaking during Pre-COP31 in Fiji this month, Matelita reflected on how climate change is reshaping everyday life across the Pacific, from the environments people depend on to the livelihoods and traditions that connect generations.
As world leaders prepare for COP31, the priority must be turning climate commitments into action. Invest in climate adaptation now.

“We need the world to stand with us.”
Speaking from Fiji following Pre-COP31 earlier this month, Adapt2Win athlete Cheyenne Rova, Fijian Olympian and Chair of the Oceania Aquatics Athletes Commission, shared what climate adaptation means for her community.
Families feeling safe. Communities able to live off the ocean and land. Children growing up with the freedom to learn and play sports.
Her message to leaders and negotiators ahead of @turkiyecop31 is clear: listen to Pacific communities, turn commitments into action, and get resources to the places and people that need them now.
Communities are already adapting. Governments and financial institutions must deliver the funding to support them—with the urgency their lives and livelihoods demand.
Invest in climate adaptation now.
