Tilly Macalister-Smith—a writer, editor and content strategist—knows the questions to ask to pinpoint the perfect present. Here, she shares her guaranteed-hit gifts for everyone on your list. 05 Nov 2026 Day one at @thesalonny, and the lights are on with a little help from @hamishpowell. Come and find us at the Park Avenue Armory, open through Sunday, November 8. 04 Nov 2026 Introducing Alchemy, our guide to gifts worth their weight in gold ✨🪄 21 Oct 2026 Behind the scenes with British floral artist Hamish Powell (@hamishpowell), turning 1,500 corn husks into a glowing installation. For the @__abask__ installation at Salon Art + Design NYC, Hamish brings an observation from a flower market to a much larger scale. Layered corn husks become luminous sculptural forms, revealing the textures that first caught his eye at Mexico City’s Mercado de Jamaica. The finished lamps surprised him with their lightness: even the largest, without its base, can be lifted with one hand. “I first witnessed the magic relationship between corn husks and light in Mexico last year. It was totally glowing, and the overlapping layers sort of compounded the vascular texture of the husks — and in that moment I knew I’d do something with them one day.” On view with @__abask__ at @thesalonny November 4–8, 2026
Park Avenue Armory, New York, NY 10065. Interview & Curation by @milkagencynyc 07 Nov 2026 Exciting new territory for my studio 💡 Our first venture into sculptural lighting and lasting botanical objects, designed and fabricated in New York with @__abask__ for @thesalonny Following on from our campaign direction for ABASK’s lighting launch earlier this year, we were commissioned to design the brand’s showcase at Salon this autumn. I’ll get into the inspo and process more in another post coming soon. Feeling very inspired by this new chapter for my practice, with so many ideas waiting for exploration. X 05 Nov 2026 What does a minimalist holiday table look like? For Fiona Leahy, it’s crackers made from wallpaper samples and filled with crystals, towers of berries, and burgundy or pink candles—unscented, always. Set the holiday table your way with our curation. The Holiday Shop, link in bio. 03 Nov 2026 Know someone impossible to buy for? Think again. Our Gift Guide is here, with something for everyone on your list, from the one who never loses at backgammon to the one mixing the drinks or always stealing the throw. 02 Nov 2026 Our calendars are full, and our weekends are spoken for. Swipe for what the team is looking forward to this November. Thanksgiving is our favorite excuse to go all out on the table. For inspiration, we’re turning to @linda_lomelino and her dreamy take on the season. We’re exhibiting at @thesalonny, New York’s art and design fair, from November 4–8. Come and say hello. First on our reservations list: @hummrestaurant, Daniel Humm’s new West Village restaurant. Expect simple, ingredient-led cooking from a wood-burning oven, in a room designed with artists including Pierre Yovanovitch and Rashid Johnson. Cold nights, warm throws. Discover new arrivals from Saved NY, alongside the bestsellers we always come back to. In London, @tate is exploring the life and legacy of Frida Kahlo, from her extraordinary artwork to the personal style that made her an icon. Nothing says the season has started quite like George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker at @nycballet. Our rewatch list this month: Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox, for the autumnal color palette, intricately crafted sets and woodland charm. Straight from one of our favorite New York restaurants, King’s first book is full of Italian- and French-inspired recipes. First up: the flourless chocolate cake… 31 Oct 2026 What’s On Your Plate? The series that celebrates really great dishes. Who: @gaz.herbert at @comalnyc Born in Mexico City and raised across Mexico, Colombia, England, and Russia, @‌gaz.herbert trained at Le Cordon Bleu in London before cooking at The River Café and Michelin-starred Ikoyi. In 2025, he opened his debut restaurant, Comal, a 40-seat neighborhood spot on the Lower East Side, where an amazing pantry of dried Mexican chilies and spices meets fresh seasonal produce, free from the rules of any one cuisine. What: Chocolate and Guajillo Torta — swipe for full recipe. On: The Etoile Hand-Glazed Ceramic Salad / Dessert Plate by @astierdevillatte Up Next: Up Next: Catch Gaz in London for a pop-up at @carousel_ldn from November 10–14. He’s also working on a cookbook with his Head Chef, Scott McKay (@localrestaurantidiot), with plans to travel across Mexico to shoot the process, build the dishes, and find fresh inspiration along the way. #ABASKit 30 Oct 2026 “Maybe I’m an amateur dramatic, but I like the performance and the ritual of the table,” says creative director and self-confessed holiday tablescape obsessive Fiona Leahy (@fionaleahydesign). Ahead of our collective curtain calls for the holiday season, Leahy has masterminded two tables for ABASK to inspire your minimalist and maximalist sensibilities and shared all her festive tabletop secrets, from making your own crackers to personalized placements that double up as party favors.
